Hello all, first time posting on here. I've come seeking wisdom on a possible project. I've come across a straight 95 4runner SR5 with no engine. I have an engine already lined up, you're all gonna groan but it's a 3.0 with 8000 miles for a couple hundred bucks. My primary question is this, it's all stock and has an automatic tranny in it with 178k miles. Am I looking at replacing it with that many miles or do they have pretty long lives. I'm not looking into a big build, just something to get to pavement in bad winter storms from our house. Probably 35" or 36" tires, locker in the rear, leave open IFS in front for the time being. I know its hard to kill a manual Toyota transmission but I have no experience and don't know anybody who's run an automatic so I'm clueless. If it needs replaced are they ridiculously expensive? I'm trying to do my research so a possible budget build doesn't turn into a gold mine as we all know can happen. Thanks in advance for any input.
