Got new shifter bushings from @cruiseroutfit but am having a devil of a time figuring out what to do to remove this without breaking it...I DO have the two Phillips screws removed, but something retains the forward half....what easy step am I missing?

Carefully pry out the panel with the Japanese writing at the front. There are more screws under there.
The bushing upgrade is one of the best you can do for the $.
Have fun!

Changed them anyways, just to be safe...

Was your shifter handle rattling?
hard to tell with the diesel motor, but it certainly is MUCH more precise! FJ62 bushings are next....

My shifter rattled especially when sitting at a traffic light. (Quite annoying) The new bushing corrected the issue.

The new bushings in my BJ74 made the snifter nice and tight, best part @theferg had to do the swap task :D
