Never seen one here in Aus with this style light. All the early shortys I've seen here have the early lights as fitted to your 45s Could of been fitted later on in it's life i guess, but that would mean modifying the rear cross member. So not a quick easy job  :meh:

Would have to have been imported. I have seen on your 40s and my 65 the different cross member the light assembly fits in to - Or someone just got the wrong part??

Cheers Dobster

That's too bad, as this cruiser first popped up here on mud less than a year ago; https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj25-owners-group/466481-1963-fj40-build-thread.html

Funny thing is that the original poster went back and deleted all his posts...every single last one of them...but I do remember that this was some kind of amazingly great deal when he purchased it...

As for those lights...this is the second early 40 I have see in your part of the world with this tail light configuration...here is the other; https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/559348-our-old-girl.html ...you can see a picture of the rear end in post #20.

I remember this one also. I'm not going to bother reading the other threads but I'm sure it was stated that those funny amber turn signals were added at port to be able to register this in australia. Then in 65 Toyota modified the rear crossmember for Australia only. I don't have a 64 micro-fiche but I do have 62,63 and 65. In the 65 it shows a the amber/red tail light lens and states Australia only. The first few years here in the US Americian made reflectors were added at port. around 63/64 those reflectors were made by Koito in Japan.

I do hate it when peeple come back and delete all their posts. The biggest shame is when a guy who went by Ground Up deleted all the pictures of possibly the most original soft top restoration ever done. It sold on ebay a few years back. After that I haven't heard a thing about it.

Australian Blinkers

When I bought the Cruiser in 1973 it had two loose fitting orange lenses. There were no part numbers for lenses for this model. I found the correct lenses with the other bits I bought in Tamworth they were sitting on a shelf and the people there had no idea what they were for. The lens has a chrome ring pressed into it and with a twist the lens lock into the globe holder. There are no marking to say who made them. The chrome ring does nothing. I can see that I am very lucky to have found them.

Steve
