Tony, No, We have gone over maybe changing the location, but i think we are going to keep the time and day..

Ill bring it up, but i think the general consensus is that someone is always going to have a conflict with a certain day/time, and the current day everyone is already used to..

We want to have a program on the new website LIke photobase or similar.. IH8mud uses one here - http://gallery.ih8mud.com/

It will allow members to upload their own photos from trail rides without having anyone the admin do it. water marking is something that we would like to do, so every photo uploaded has our logo/website on it

http://coppermine-gallery.net/index.php it looks like watermarking is going to be in the next version of the software!

this was brought up as a way to help keep our photos from being used by others, or if others use it, it will have our logo on it!

EDIT:

Looks like gallery already has the watermark feature, and its preinstalled on the OLM Hosting package that we are switching to! :bounce2::bounce: http://gallery.menalto.com/

BTW, Jeff, nice to see ya on here, hows it going?

"water marking is something that we would like to do,"

Why?

And I've been busy at work and working from home as well. Just here to check the plans for the holiday weekend. From what I've seen, the plans don't look interesting to me.

The consensus at the meeting was that we would like a way to have "our" photos stay ours..

We all know that this is impossible, once a photo is posted on our site anyone can copy it and use it for their own uses, So in a Measure to keep others from using it we would like our logo. or website on the photos..

Even Then if our photo is taken and used, it has our name all over it!

So with this software, any photo in the gallery put up onto CLC.org will have the logo on it, Yet the person who took the photos can retain the original, or host it on their own without the clc logo..

This is just an idea, we have along way to go before we can get there

Seems like a lot of work for not much protection or benefit. By placing the club logo (or other watermark) you imply ownership of the copyright which then means the person that took the picture no longer has rights to use the picture (because the photographer assigned all rights to the club by allowing the watermark). I would suggest that there is some clear indication that all photographs are copyright by the original photographer.

I find it interesting that a club is actively trying to protect images that are really only of interest to people in the club. And yet, some of the best photographers in the world (whose work is worth thousands--hundreds of thousands in some cases--of dollars) don't bother to watermark photos on their site.

Please Re-Read my posts, Its not alot of work (its built into the new server), its not something that we "are" doing, just something that was brought up at the meeting..

This Club is not a place of Bitching and moaning, we are here to go wheeling, have fun, and this website/photo section is a way to promote us, and share our trips with each other and other people on the net.. Im sick of the non-constructive commentary..

:RANT Off:

Simple solution. If a picture is posted up on the website, then it is done volintarily, genarally by the person posting the photo. It is theirs to do what they wish. If there is a problem with seeing the pic on the web and are afraid someone is going to steel it then dont put it there. I cant believe people are argueing about something in order to keep from hurting someones feeling. Vote one for the watermark. After all I still have the original. Too much political crap going on. Give it a rest. Does it really matter.
say good night gracy
