okay change of plans again

Whipsaw it is!

I had a few friends just return and they said it was nice up there
temps were nice and flowers are out
It was raining in Princeton though

Ken and I are leaving earlyyyy Saturday. Seven kids total in our group

Chehalis will be an oven. I spent an hour on the beach (in the sun) last year helping with a repair and it was bad

A couple of my buddies are just on their way back from the Whipsaw (they left Tuesday), and they said it was nice and cool (low to mid 20's) and even on the road out towards the Coquihalla it was 26 degrees. They said it was beautiful up there, very green with lots of flowers, so it doesn't sound too bad after all.

I think we're gonna do the trip - I think Chehalis will be an oven camping out on the beach there. By the way, apparently the way out to the Coq. is not a good option - there is a bridge out. My buddies had to turn around and come out Coalmont way.

sorry, I missed your posts
Coalmount is fine by me
and Placer sounds good

We're back. Time to unload, slather on some sunburn gel, and I'll upload pics 'n stuff later.
And for those of you who said 'oven', you couldn't have been more wrong.
Sure it was hot, but with a steady breeze, and NO bugs (just a few wasps) it was awesome.

great weekend jeff! 4 days of quiet, peaceful beautiful weather camping. lucky we left the hatchery on friday when we did...otherwise it would have been an alcohol free weekend..wo0t! just finished cleaning out and washing the cruiser...will post up pics throughout the week...

we did Whipsaw, lots of bugs in the evening but the days were very nice. It had rained recently so there was minimal dust and a few puddles to drive AROUND

Only Ken, Mindy, 6 kids and myself showed up

Apparently there was a fatal accident up there on the weekend, a red 4Runner going off the road and down a bank.

I didn't hear about that.

We only went up to Dry Lake and rented a cabin. Life is tough. :D But we don't all have ARB fridges running down our batteries. We were planning to leave Friday evening but I discovered I had knocked off a front bump stop just before noon. Having to pull the spring to fix it, I elected to install the lift. Book says to allow 2 hours. Ya right - not for OEM shocks with bolts rust welded. Anyways, I finished it up Saturday morning. Damn, the Safari is high now - about 3.5" higher. Springs must of really been sagged. She was a treat to drive on the highway. Still have to give her a proper bush run. But now those 31s look real small.

It was a good weekend. Last night my son decided he wanted to go and try to better his 3lb trout from last weekend which he took on a worm and bobber. We weren't out more than 15 minutes when he nailed an even bigger fish, which I managed to net with a 5 gal bucket we had in the boat (almost flipping us both into the lake). We only weighed it dressed at 2.75 lbs. I figure it must of been around 3 1/4 to 3 1/2 lbs. I think he's got the fishing bug. Now I need to get him onto some flyfishing.

Well, let's see it!!

Same size tires (31s) in both pics. I think I will now need some 33s or 35s for the trail. Still will run 31s on the highway - unless I get around to turboing her. I can't imagine doing our mountain passes on 35s NAed.

Nice, that looks way better!

Like the wheels too...

Thanks. You like them Old School Land steel Cruiser wheels eh? Only one problem is I have to keep a close eye on the wheel nut torque as the rims are flat against the hub rather than being a bit convex under the wheel nut. Both the steel and the alloy ones were gifts from Justin. If I get a set of 33s or 35s, they'll go on LC steelies as well. With 35s I'll probably have to mess about a bit with the bump stops to prevent scrub on full compression.
