The Jeps must have stayed on the pussy trails because the only time we had a traffic jam was when were were getting off the trails by the office. We did run into a group of Jeeps by the rock creek but we just went around them as I recall.

Bob et al, Do you remember if it was a "Camp Jeep" event last year or just a random heep event not sponsored by Daimler/Chrysler. "Camp Jeep" events are usually hundreds of trucks involved.

Are we sure the event scheduled in August is a Daimler-Chrysler sponsored "Camp Jeep" event? It's listed on the Rausch Creek Calendar as "Camp Heep: Multi-Club Run."

I think that last year's event was just a multi-club run, not an official "Camp Jeep". RC doesn't seem like the typical Camp Heep venue.

Jeff,

Can you check with Lynn to see how many attendees she's expecting for the Heep Run? She was expecting zillions last year and expecting all of the on-site camping to be full. As it turned out, the Heep crew didn't fill up the available camping spots.

From the OCC website, it's a "members only run" with Maryland Creepers, NOVA Jeepers, and OCC. Sounds like the same group as last year.

I can't find anything on Google for Camp Jeep at RC but I did find mention of a Camp Jeep in PA in '05. The '05 event was help at some airport - now there's some real wheelin' for ya.

I just heard from Lynn and since the camp jeep thing will dominate the camping area, she has agreed to allow us to camp via driving into the trails and going to the west property new trail camping area. That sounds cool to me, more time on the property the better... There is a nice stream for showers, water in general (better have a filter). It is likely OK to pull an offroad trailer to the camp area, if anyone is interested, I can check with her.

Also, trailers/campers are still allowed in the parking area, just not back to the trails camping area. Sounds fun...

this sounds better than the normal area!
I'm definitely in!

are there issues with late attendees getting to the spot though? gates closed or something?

We'll probably want to check if hanging signs pointing the right direction is OK.

I remember the first time the VA crew showed up (right before the park opened) and camped INSIDE the park. Real nice being able to easily trek back to camp for lunch and the woods are great!

If I can make it, I can help cook! I have the gear on hand to cook dutch oven style :grinpimp: .

Tell me what ya think? I can feed approx. 10 - 15 out of one dutch oven. I can have 2 going at one time.

Chuck

sounds great...

You can cook all day and we'll run the trails....dinner better be ready by the time we're back :pig:

I want plenty of cold beer with my dinner or maybe a nice Cabernet.

Looks like I maybe able to make it :D

Bob, I'll talk to you at CMCC about travel plans ;)

Am I the only one who believes that "Camp Jeep" is going to take over the trails all weekend and pretty much bring the suck to Rausch Creek?

I have never been to a "Camp Jeep" event but I have seen the pictures and read all about them. Camp Jeep = hundreds of trucks. Normally they rent out the entire area as it is a "closed" event. I am surprised Lynn would let anyone but them in the park on the same weekend.

I would strongly consider holding the event at Paragon or changing dates.

This was plucked from RC's forum re what is camp jeep:

"Maryland Creepers, NOVA and OCC clubs got together when Camp Jeep didn't come back to VA a few years ago and put this ride together. It was a ride to fill the spot of camp jeep not being down south. The event has been a good one for sure."

Figured I'd keep the post going. Jeff, I'll probably make this event since I won't be able to get to CMCC. Of course I don't have a "Bore" in the garage, But I'm willing to ride one. Or should I say "ride in one":hillbilly:

Are you saying FJ55's are boring?

I think he was referring to a 55 as a "boar" but spelled it "bore"...

of course, he did say he would ride one :grinpimp: which would be entertaining, the opposite of boaring

Jeff, you take all the fun out of my teasing! :D :D

Hi all.

Couple o' Q's: this is this a one-day event, right? What time will things get started on Saturday?

I imagine most people are camping both Friday and Saturday nights... do RC gates close at a certain time on Friday night (that is: how late can I arrive)?

I am going to see if I can make it in any case, but it may be easier if I don't have to take time off work.

Thanks. -Ed '70FJ40

You'll find the gates closed in the evening but not locked.
