so a good meeting last night! smallish turn out, but not bad.

next meeting Sept 10th. that misses the labor day run and gives 3 weeks till next meeting. Lurch was going to host, but can't, he is penciled in for the Oct meeting. so, WE NEED A HOST. volunteer up!

next run, after the Labor day trip, a shake down for the Oct, Columbus Day trip(also discussed), Sunday Sept 25th. set at this point for Tank Trap trail.

Columbus Day trip- we traditionally do Moab, it was suggested to try somewhere new. we are looking at Northern Az at this point, but are open to suggestions. Evan has a book and is looking at trails in the Flagstaff/Sedona area. there should be lots of good "stock vehicle friendly" trails.

I think that was the main discussions.

I talked to a guy today who said there were some good trails around Prescott.

Also, an option for the shakedown run might be an early start (ish?) going up La Bajada Hill, then if we have time over to Tank Trap which is short enough and slow enough going anybody who has a stockish rig can do La Bajada then just walk Tank Trap if they wish.

I've done "Broken Arrow" trail right outside Sedona. Pretty easy but there are a few fun things to play on.

that's a good plan Steve.

Greg, yep, I've run Broken Arrow and Soldier's Pass a few times too. we are looking at those and anything else in Northern Az. Prescott may work. hopefully Evan finds some good stuff in his book. I found that Flagstaff has basically nothing. most trails in Sedona area are dirt roads other than what greg mentioned.
Good suggestions, keep 'em coming.

thanks, I went back and edited it.

Any thought given to Toroweap overlook in AZ? This would be a true self contained camping/wheeling type of a trip. Assuming the temps are still comfortable (ish) in oct.

had not thought of that. do you have some info on it?

The Charles Wells book shows a number of trails in the Flagstaff and Sedona areas. It's been a crazy week, so I haven't had time to post anything up yet, but I will get some info on this thread in the next few days.

gr8wrk just did toroweep not too far back, i bet he can speak to it among others...
