You would probably want to try Car Audio forums or something similar. I would say with the displacement that 12" subs are cabable of nowdays, two would be more than overkill. I would check the usual suspects, Infinity, JL Audio (I never liked their stuff), Boston Acoustics. How about some good sound quality instead of mine is louder than yours? Check out Image Dynamics subwoofers. Amplifier's, I no longer know who makes the good stuff, but I would expect Infinity, Alpine, and JBL are all decent. Head units, Alpine and Eclipse are fine, check out Nakamichi also.
Keep in mind that at 16 you are not thinking about things like long term hearing loss. 1 10" subwoofer in your truck is capable of generating 120db spl levels. 5 minutes of bass at that level will cause hearing loss. You won't notice it now, you may not notice it much in 10 years, but as you age, it will get progressively worse. Think about a world where you wake up and can't hear the birds, can't hear the rain on the roof, don't hear the russle of the leaves.
Worse yet, think about a world where you have constant ringing in your ears from tinnitus (ringing of the ears). I suffer from tinnitus, the result of some assholes in junior high that lit some M-80s and threw them in the bathroom while I and a couple other guys were taking a leak. For what they thought was "funny" I get to live with ringing in my ears every day. When I go to bed at night, I hear the high pitched ringing. When it is quiet, I hear the ringing. Sitting here now, I can hear the ringing. You to can suffer from this lovely desease by blasting youself with a loud boom system to look "cool." Think about how cool it will be to still be able to hear in 30 years.
Aren't you glad you asked?
