Does anyone have a writeup on the relay to replace elocker ecu retro fit?

Landtoy80,
I have done a search for any possible leads to my problem on the archive and it appears that your downey kit isn't exactly flawless. I would rather not trade problems so I don't think the downey kit is in my future. Maybe my mind will change is I am looking at $700 to replace it.

I haven't actually wired mine all up yet. (I'm actually doing it tonite and tomorrow...). But I'm going to be following the schematic on this site http://www.yankeetoys.org/black900rr/fj80/wiring.html. Though I've been reading that all the minitruck and 4runner guys using this one are pulling the 5-ohms/40 watts of resistance out of the equation because it was actually messing up their motors... (On a side note, the schematic shows 5-ohms/40 watts, but the part lists shows to use 4, 1-ohm/8 watt resistors for a total or 4-ohms/40 watts..). So anyway, I am gonna set it up without the resistance and see how it goes.

Uglibus, I got your PM, I'm not all that good with electronics and troubleshooting, but I'll read it a couple more times and see if anything clicks for me. I got a buddy who has kinda been helpin' me out on mine and I'm gonna forward him your PM and see what he thinks. For your relay control unit, did you use that same schematic? It might not hurt to post up the same info you PM'd me into this thread and then post up the schematic you used (if different from the other one). I'm sure somebody here could find or suggest where the problem might be.

UPDATE: I definitely need to get some more practice with basic automotive electric wiring. I made a stupid error with the ground on the motor which was not grounded. Once I found my ground was bad the motor worked great with the dash switch. Thank you CDan, Ferg, Landtoy80, and others who have helped me and had patience with me.
