This afternoon I decided to change the ATF on my LJ71.

I crawled underneath the veh. and using a 14 mm socket I loosened the bolt on the pan. But I could not get it to come off. I turned and turned and it also kept turning and turning .Tightening it was the same it kept turning and turning. No leak or ATF had seeped out yet. The bolt was still fairly flush against the pan. At this time I cannot tell if it is the bolt or the pan that has the sripped thread.

I think the previous owner must have stripped the thread on the bolt. I had just bought the veh. one month agp and have not yet touched the ATF other than check the level from up above.

I thought I had better stop now as no seeping had occurred yet and I could still drive the veh. The bolt area was still nice and dry.

Any suggestions on how to get the stripped bolt out and what the lenght of the shaft behind the nut is. I realize if I get it off I will have to change the ATF , which was my intention anyway. On another forum I read that it takes about 2 l. of ATF for a drain and refill . Is this the correct amount for the auto 2LTE.?

Is the oil pan bolt the same item as it also uses a 14 mm head. ?

Can this bolt be bought at any parts store.?

It was a beutifull day up here otherwise.

Thanks.

drop the pan. you are changing out the fluid anyways and it is much easier to work on it on the bench vs laying on your back...
cheers

Is there a gasket with the pan ?. And how many litres of ATF, somewhere I saw 1.5 l's or around there on a drain and refill. Is this correct.

Thanks.
