Search Autotrader or Cars.com. I think your probably right about a 16 and the invoice and what it might take to buy one right now.
The normal invoice to MSRP markup is really not that much different from the 15 to 16. I believe what that dealer is saying about the invoice etc. etc to be true.

However it is my understanding that Toyota never puts cash on the hoods of Cruisers, but they do offer backend dealer cash to help dealers move the inventory.
So I imagine a 72k deal on a 16 right now, is highly unlikely, but a few months from now when some dealer cash is staring to float around out there ??? I can see it being achievable.
Just need some time for Toyota to start offing that backend dealer cash, and you should start to see adds from those same volume dealers now offering 2015s for 72-74k.

What did they quote for the '15? I paid 70k for my '13 new with msrp at 81k. The '16 seems to have a msrp of 86k so 78k sounds reasonable for a 200 that just hit the lot as a new refresh. Probably will drop to mid 70s later next year.

Couple of people paid 70-72 for left over 15

One guy here paid 68 k new for leftover 14 two months ago

I just bought a "15 a few months ago. MSRP of 81ish I think, without any prompting my first offer from them was at 75. I can confirm the low 70's number for the 2015's. [emoji106]

Bought 16 for $1000 over invoice a month ago. For such a small difference 16 is no brainer. Just new add ons / upgrades are worth it

Boch Toyota offered me a 16 for 77,500. Anyone seen better than that?

Scroll up three or four posts in this thread, and you'll see a dealer offering $75k

Something doesn't add up. Show me a 16 with an MSRP of 81. If it was in fact a 16 for 75k please let me know where the dealer was

Just sold the Sequoia after 2-years and trips all over for Lacrosse. I just never got used to it and the build quality just feels more "American" built mass-market. There is more space but it's not used well. There is nothing like a Land Cruiser.

Ah. I just re-read the post, and it was in reference to a '15...not a '16.

Its not even 2016 yet & they're offering $10K off. Steal of a deal, but I wouldn't be surprised if the car probably has "program" miles on it. Something to the tune of 600-900 miles on the odometer.

$10k discount for 750?

That would mean they are essentially PAYING YOU $13.33 PER MILE for that initial 750 miles.

I'll take that deal on any new car they wanna sell me! ;)
Heck...drove it it 10,000 miles before selling it to you?
...at $13.33/per mile...they'd have to
give you a $133,333.33 discount!!!!

I'LL TAKE IT!! :)

Depending on your location, deals are out there on 2016s. I bought a 2016 two days ago in Paris, Texas. I searched the entire country on AutoTrader and luckily found one in my state. I spent weeks trying to buy one on the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I had one dealer willing to sell me one at dealer invoice, but it was black and I wanted silver. The car in Paris, Texas had a few hundred miles on it. Dealer's wife was driving it. I got a below invoice deal. The dealer is in a small town and they don't move them there. If you do your homework, you can score a killer deal. PM me if you are interested and I can point you to a few dealers in Texas that will do invoice deals or close to it.

What percentage over invoice is fair or within reason in your opinion? Don't believe in overpaying a dealer, but still want to fairly compensate.

I would say $1000 over invoice is fair. That way they make their holdback plus $1000. It really just depends on location and if the dealer can move a car they have on their lot or not. In my experience rural dealers are more likely to give you and invoice deal than a big city dealership.

It has been my experience that with the Land Cruiser in particular, that Rebates are seldom ever are put out on the hood to the public.

However rebates do exist in a way, they pay the dealers some form of back end dealer cash to help move products like these high end Land Cruisers. So in a nutshell, these are not really vehicles that negotiating from Invoice really tells you much, about fair or not fair. I would suggest pulling national searches on the Autotrader and Cars.com and sorting by price lowest to highest and use that as a bases for negotiating with the local dealer. IE. If you see several advertised at $10K off sticker then that is where I would shoot for with your local dealer, and be prepared to travel or ship one in from a out of town dealer if your local dealer is not wanting to play ball.

That's actually how you see these wild looking $10K off deals are being made. So even a dollar over invoice could leave you paying thousands more then some dealers might be asking for the truck.

So for a 16 right now it would seem the best prices are floating in the Mid to high 70s.
Say 76-78K should be a really fair price range to shoot for.

Toward the end of this year I would expect that fair range to drop a bit, to say 74-76K.
