They are terrible in the packed snow, slush and Ice conditions.

I purchase my 2005 Durango Hemi with AWD and 4wd Lock four weeks ago with 64500 miles. The Geolander tires were just put on. They now have 3000 miles on them and I drove 1500 of those miles. I must say they are quiet for a mud and snow and the dry road driving is great. I had one dry road panic stop and they worked great.

On ice and packed snow they are awful. I have been living and driving in snow country my entire life. I drove 2wd Crown Victoria Police Interceptors for many years at work in snow and ice with no issues. With these tires I have spun out twice at low speeds in these conditions. One close call was last week with six people on board on a straight road with a very slushy condition. It was raining and snowing at the same time. The AWD Durango started sliding from the left to right with the 4wd Lock mode on. Mind you I was only going under 30mph in a 55mph zone. Thank GOD for my training which kicked in with throttle management to bring it under control as there was no traction Control in that model year. If I had touched the brake I would have wrecked it. All six passengers were as white as ghost.

These will become SUMMER ONLY tires and I will be buying Nokian Studded Hakkapeliittas for the next winter season.

Don't buy them for winter use in the North East!

I had similar experience with the HT-S version. They are great for the first 20k or so miles. After that they became so loud that my father (riding in the passenger seat) wanted to take me to a shop because he was sure I had a spun rear axle bearing, this was on our 2008 Toyota Highlander. After the 20k miles they became so loud that at highway speeds you could not have a conversation with the person in the rear seats. Snow/Ice/Slush was fine while they were new but after that was pretty sketchy.

Final straw for these was at 35K miles I took them to Big-O (who sold us the tires) as they were almost bald. These are rated as a 55k mile tire and Big-O was great in prorating for warranty replacement. They did all the rotations, every 5k miles when we had Toyota do the oil change so it wasnt a tire rotation issue. They were stumped but needless to say I told them that I would ABSOLUTELY NOT be buying another Yokohama product. I understand that this could have been a bad set or what not but after spending over $700 on them new (can get something like the Michelin LTX M+S for close to that in stock size) I will not be giving them another "chance".

Anyone has any experienced on them with heavy snow. Don't plan on offroad with them at all.
They do a good job in heavy snow. I'm running Yoko 285's in the Idaho Mtns @ 6000 ft, with 13% grades, and that's just my driveway!
Course, our snow is light and dry, not wet cement like you have,:flipoff2: so YMMV. After 30K miles, they get me up the hill just fine, and rarely need to lock a diff. I air them down for more traction, and air up for mileage.
Oh, and, I'll be giving Cooper ATP's a try next

I know this thread is a little old now but I just wanted to say I absolutely love my Yokahama Geolander A/T's! I've driven about 5k miles on them through ice, snow, and on just about every trail in Arkansas and I have nothing negative to say at all. I haven't taken them through mud because ih8mud but I have forded many creeks about hood deep and I have no complaints!View attachment 892963View attachment 892964
