Found these on ebay but I'm not entirely sure if they are a stock item. Does anybody know if the corner windows were a stock item on these earlier models? Seller is claiming that they are for a '58-'64. I've just never seen them on that early of a rig. Any idea what a decent offer might be on just the hardtop sides?

Thanks,
Travis

I have seen the corner windows added more than once on earlier top which this appears to be. But the 58 thru 63 are a little different than the 64 thru mid 65. The B pillar is taller on the earlier cruisers so the side had a cut out. On the 64 and up the back door had handles added to make it easier to open from outside. Not sure what they are worth. I already four maybe five sets so I'm not in the market.

I sorry I don't. Won't be able to get soon until next week. But pretty easy to tell the difference. On the earlier tops you can see about 6" of the tube that goes into the B pillar behind the front doors on the earlier tops.

Here is a link with some not so good pictures of the top. But if you look close you will see the tub comes up about 6" right behind the front doors. Just about where it switches to white.

I have an old four wheeler mag article on how to add visibility to an early cruiser top and they used chevy truck corner glass! I have seen one early bifold top with these added so it was some what common back in the day. Also hard to find the early tops without the posts being cut off...

Thanks

Thanks fellas. Am I correct in assuming that the corner window are not stock? I really like the look but I've currently got a nice original top. The seller seems to think that his sides are 100% stock and is asking a pretty penny for them. I may just modify mine at a later date...maybe!

They are the corner glass from probably mid 50's chevy pickup. They had that exact shape. If they were factory they would have horizontal vertical sides to match the side windows and would not have been mounted so close to the bevel not that the factory made them, but if they did they would match.
Also if I look closely at the rubber seal they are also different styles.

Corner glass started in mid '65.

The above top is not stock, and in my opinion not worth much :meh:

Dean is correct, when the top design change from the corrugated sides the corner window became standard not a option.

One more thing... the bottom window in the bi-fold rear door was also added by a pervious owner somewhere along the way. I have two vehicles that the steel was cut out and glass added.

Nice Catch

Nice catch on the window. I've compared my '64 top to the pictures a few times and never caught that until you mentioned it. I referred the owner to this thread and haven't heard back from him in about a week. Strikes me as a little wierd because up until this point he has gotten back to me within a day or two. He was asking $500 for all three pieces and I'm really glad I did a little research. Thanks again for all of you who replied to my question.

Here's how his Craig's List Ad read:

Very rare find - In excellent condition Bi fold lift up doors FJ40 Toyota 1958-64. Both Right and left side panels.

$425 ...too much for these particular parts...but that is just my opinion
