Let me rephrase.

Are there recovery points that will hold a 3/4 d ring shackle nicely? Something a bit wider like you would see on an aftermarket bumper.
Looks like trail tailer has for the 200 series a thicker type of recovery point but it's a completely different style than ours. Does anyone have a thick type of recovery point? I know spressomon made some before. any other options?

I currently have marks4wd but they are also a bit thin (1/2") and on washboard roads the shackles just bang around. No the shackles aren't on for everyday driving.

I just want something to hold the shackle a bit tighter. I can only hold one side tight with my winch

I keep my shackles in the truck even on the trail, because much of the time you have to unthread them anyways to perform a recovery. I understand though, I have the TT points and the shackles hang a little wonky.

Trail Tailor - they are at least twice as thick as the OEM points.

Thanks guys for the responses. yea I have some recovery points on there now I was just saying the trail tailor ones seem similar in thickness as the ones I have.

basically @atnolan94 said what I was thinking. the shackles don't really hang there straight. I keep them in the drawers for everyday driving too.

So just to clarify, jason has 2 styles. The first is camfered to allow for use of a soft shackle, I believe he also makes ones where the pin slot is flat and a snug fit so the shackles shouldn't hang weird.

The non-soft TT are not snug. They’re still just 1/2” thick and the shackle hangs weird. But it doesn’t bother me.

use spacers/washers

This. Or maybe cut a chunk of hose to fit over the pin that will compress slightly to eliminate the play. Big enough diameter to not fit into the recovery point hole. I have a set of shackles that came with a stack of plastic washers to take up the space, but I think it would be easier to just have one chunk of hose to keep track of.

First off, don't leave the shackles ON the rig when driving. You'll have to undo them anyway to attach straps/ropes. Aside from the banging around (even with spacers), just seems a bad idea in rocky terrain where you could bash your shackles on rocks on ledges. The other thing to consider is that if you have your shackles attached to the recovery points and you bog in deep, you can't get to your shackles to remove them and transfer to the rear for a reverse recovery. Hopefully you'd have more than 2 shackles, but seems most people have just 2. I keep all my shackles (6 D shackles and 4 soft shackles) with the recovery kit in the rear of the truck. I use the IronMan4x4 rated recovery points and have been very impressed by them.

I agree with that sentiment too. My shackles are in the bag with my straps, since I don't need one without the other. I may have accidentally been misleading when I said I have a set with spacers. The spacers that came with them are in the bag too. 😃

Shackles permanently affixed to recovery points.

Otherwise known as "The JK look". 😁

For those of you running Trail Tailor or Duiser recovery points with spacers, could you post up a source for spacers? NLA from trail tailor and I need to get mine below a stock front bumper. Thanks in advance.

When in rough terrain I alway have a strap with shackles front and rear ready for recovery. I do this as I was in deep mud a few times and had to "dive in" and try to mount the shackles when in deep mud. Not recommended.
