just wondering cause i want the width of the 305 but i want alittle more tire height. and i def want the MTR's but they so expensive anyone know any cheaper places than tire rack and is the 315 significantly taller than the 305 thannks so much guys. i know i have alot of posts but i am intrigued by you ppl 99% of people i run into know nothing at all about the 80's landcruiser

315/75/16 305/70/16
33.6 31.8
12.4 12

Formatting on my cut and paste is a bit hosed but the 305's are an inch and a half shoter and a half inch skinnier.

If I am mistaken please forgive me, but the above math is incorrect. The width is correct, but the diameter is off. The 315/75/16 is 34.6" tall and 12.4" wide. The 305/70/16 is 32.81" tall and 12.0078" wide.
The forumula used is
first number (305) divided by 25.4 = 12.0078 (This gives the width)
12.0078 x .70 = 8.4055 (heigth of one cross sectional of tire)
8.4055 x 2 = 16.81 (heigth of both cross sectionals of tire)
16.81 + 16 = 32.81 (now add the rim diameter to above)
32.81" New tire heigth, not acounting for squat, etc.

315(width in milimeters)/75(aspect ratio:meaning that one section of sidewall is 75% the height of the tread's width)/R16( rim size in inches).

Dude, if you want us to take your questions seriously, then learn how to search a little first. Otherwise we'll assume you are the HCCpita violating the 80's section.

Ignore all the tire size calculators. Every company measures their tires slightly different. Plus, most of them lie. If you want :princess: mt/rs then learn a little about how much GY is off on their measurements and figure out if you can make them fit.

Where in NY are you?

You're right. I fat fingered the dia. I wasn't trying for 4 decimal place accuracy though.

Tire Rack is your best bet, I think anyway. Sam's/Costco was a little higher, and wouldn't mount them for me. But they're expensive for sure. I paid a little over a grand for 5 recently, don't have the receipt in front of me, 315 75R 16. But, I got a $75 grocery (read: beer) certificate.... :)

Go ahead & get the 315's, my wife & I looked at both before we choose & wanted the 315's. You will not be dissatified with those, since installing them my wife says she has not noticed a difference. (note:wife on 315's)

-TJK, $75 beer money, I think part of thats mine, haha-
