Searched and can't seem to find much consensus on best rear springs for a set up with the following on a '99 LX with OME medium lift:
  • Slear rear bumper dual swingouts (265 pounds?)
  • Spare 33" tire/wheel (70 pounds)
  • RTT (170 pounds)
  • KISS drawers (60 pounds?)
  • WKOR sliders (???)
  • Total of 565 pounds not counting sliders and gear
Have some estimates in the weights above. Some seem to run 2863's but I think I'll be way over the 440 LB rating especially after adding gear. Another suggestion was to run 2863's and add air bags for fine tuning. Would appreciate any thoughts and/or real world experiences.

Thanks!

I think your analysis is correct. 2864s are probably more suitable.

How did the 2864 work out for you?

How did the 2864 work out for you?

My LC weight 3660 front axle and 3770 rear axle and 2864 work perfectly 👌🏻

On public scale (in Kg) with full gear, fridge, foods, clothe, expedition stuffs and a full tank

woah, thats 500kg more than me, maybe thoes are a bit to heavy for me afterall, what are your measurements hub to fender?

20.5 front and 23 rear but I've just pull it out from storage for the winter. The back is empty from gear and fridge. I should probably lose up to 1 inch maximum.

Are you sure 500kg ? <--- kilograms. That about 1100 pounds

yeah i am right at 6200lbs (2812 kg) with me and my passenger and fuel

fridge, rtt, tools, camping gear, spare, recovery gear, bumpers

Another passage on tha scale. This time with no gear, fridge as the first pictur above was with full gear, food, clothes, ... and probably about a full tank (I edit my previous post):

But, to me, yours seems low for a 100 equipped. My 61 empty (with front and rear bumper, winch and ARB side step) weighs 5665 pounds

I just emptied it out completely and weighed everything with my bathroom scale

OEM weight 5400lbs
rtt, bumpers +350lbs =5750lbs "empty"

hub to fender airbags empty/full
22.85 rear 23
20.4 front 20.6

empty weight 5750
gear, 325lbs =6075
pax and food =400lbs
6475lbs fully loaded

hub to fender airbags empty/full
21.75 rear 22.25
20.25 front 21.25

I've run 2864s for the last 15 years. Love them, and the ride has improved over the years!

@NoogaCruiser so i had the same debate when i started overloading my 860's. Couldnt decide 863 or 864. My truck carries all of the stuff lol, dobinson rear bumper with a 35 and the second swing out loaded (dual jerry can holder/powertank/Hi-lift), kiss drawers loaded with tools/spares/and camping gear, ARB fridge with alu-cab slide. The big girl really should go on a diet. I went with 863's and have been loving them. They perfectly support the load while still allowing great articulation. I always try to keep my trucks as low as possible, the 864's just put the rear to high for my liking.

In this pic, on top of everything listed above, there's probably another 60lb of extra gear in the back

Hit the scales, looking at 6040lbs (2740kg) for normal driving at 20.5 front and 22.5 rear center of hub to fender.

Want to go up to at least 21 and 23.

When fully loaded for camping its right below 6500 before I get in

Still looks like 2864 are too stiff for me compared to the numbers you guys have shown.

gonna go to the local cruiser shop and see what they reccommond tmw

I believe I have 2863 and they are really stiff. I have rear bumper and spare 35 in OEM location and no other big loads. It feels good when loaded for camping but otherwise too stiff and feel like I'm constantly bouncing around. This is after panhard correction and extended links. I measured last night and I'm at 21.5 front and 23.75 in the rear.

my local shop said springs are not my issue, they will fix my ride height when loaded but the ride issues i described are from the foamcell shocks rather than traditional valved dampers. so im gonna leave it as is for now and just reduce my carried weight as much as possibble (posting for other people searching and having same questions that i did)
