My father in law lives in Eastern Europe and has a 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (diesel).
His truck has MANUAL transmission.

His front CV axles are shot. On both sides, the inner boots are torn, joints are completely dry, starting to rust, and making lots of noises.

Local Toyota dealer is asking close to $1,300 for the parts and another $300 for labor. This is crazy expensive!!!

I have a 2005 Lexus GX470 and i can find good quality new/rebuilt Cardone CV axles for $60-70/each.

The big question is.... will the CV axle assembly for my GX470 fit on his 2008 Prado?? The GX is Automatic and the Prado is Manual transmission....if that makes any difference.

Thank you!

Find out the number of inner/outer spline, plus part numbers, then perhaps do an online search based on part numbers, to see if any match, coincide, or are interchangeable. That's where I would start.
Based on the quick research I just did, the type of transmission DOES matter, if that helps.

For reference, I found these: A Pair Toyota Prado 120 Series Brand New Front CV Joint Drive Shafts 2/03-11/09 | eBay

But you may want to email them to ask them just to be sure.

Part numbers for a 2008 Prado diesel manual crossover to the GX. I would say they fit. It is the same front drivetrain. Different gear ratio in the diff but the CVs are the same.

Oh, the driveshafts, housings, suspension, etc all cross over. The diffs (ratio), trans, and engine are different.

See that's what I thought too.. But figured better safe than sorry. Thanks for chiming in so quickly.
