I just saw the new ARB roof rack at Man-A-Fre. I can just tell you I wasn't impressed at all. ARB just slapped that thing together from what I can see. Retrofitted a rack from another product I'm sure. When I get some time I'm going to build my own rack which will be better than what I'm seeing on the market, and I'll bet it will not even cost $150. The ARB rack is showing at almost 800 bucks!

I installed mine Saturday and it is awesome. I like it alot. Much better than the factory rack.

I dunno...
My ARB tradesman on my 60 is built like a effin tank. 800 bucks for the FJ's dosnt seem like alot considering the factory one is 600+.
I wish they had it back last summer, I would have forgone the factory rack, and waited.
Another thing when considering the ARB rack...prepare to wait up to 4 months.

Ok Corey I went to that site and it showed me a LOT more details to that rack and I eat my words. I'll get the ARB rack eventually. Now if they would just get a rear bumper swing-a-way tire set up with jerry can.

First of all though, I really, really want them to get a new Safari Snorkel out for it. That is the first thing I want to see. We had some really wet weather and flooding the other day and it would have been nice to have the comfort of a snorkel protecting the engine of my Cruiser. Even though the water wasn't deep enough to cause harm, the rain kept coming and nobody knows how deep it will eventually get til it stops. Luckily it was not too deep.

They are working on a rear bumper soon.
I was just down at ARB two Thursdays ago, a few had not heard anything new on it.

However the president there answered an email which can be read over at that FJ forum, and he says one should be out by spring.

If they do, I hope it comes in two styles.
1. Without swingout, uses stock location.
2. With swingout for those who want it.

The price with a swingout will not doubt cost as much as one does for the 100 series Land Cruiser, around $1.8K.

If they do not make a standard one, I will go with the Warn which will be out this month to the public.
It is under $800 or so, and you can use the backup sensors and stock factory hitch with it.

I just got an email from ARB in Australia. They are working on the Snorkels at this moment in time and the snorkels will be ready in the next few months or earlier. Sounds good to me, I've been waiting for the snorkel kit more than anything.

There are so many FJ's in my area, it would be funny seeing alot of them running around with snorkels, can't wait!

My ARB roof rack has been on now for about 2.5 weeks and I love it. Much more hefty than the stock rack and double the storage space.

Your FJ is badass K9.... How bout a new pic with your roof rack? Oh how about mounting lights, it does have tabs eh?

I'm sure you know this, but just because you put a snorkle on your FJ, does not mean the motor is ready for deep water crossings. There are so many electricals that need to be addressed.

True concrete, and a good point. True deep water needs shrink wrap, etc to ensure electrical happiness.

It is worth noting that a snorkel will help the FJC a lot because those lil buggers like to wash wakes over the hood more than any other truck I have wheeled with.

Thanks! I'll get some photos up tonight when I get home!

Snorkle will also help FJC reduce dust ingestion, as the air inlet is in the front right wheel well. This is one of the primary reasons I am considering installing one (dusty here in the desert sw).

OK, not the best pictures because it's already getting dark...but here they are.

Heather how are you going to install the IPF lights on the rack. Are you drilling?
I will be installing a Yak wind fairing this weekend.
