Heather how are you going to install the IPF lights on the rack. Are you drilling?
I will be installing a Yak wind fairing this weekend.

Yep, I will be drilling. I was fortunate enough to get a great deal from a 25% certificate I won in a raffle, so I dealt directly with ARB. They basically said that they show the rack with the lights, but didn't predrill holes for them.

Post some pics on the drilling method. That is what I may do also. What IPFs did you get? Front and rear?
I did not get the mesh because my thinking was the cleaning snow would be easier.

No light holes? Man that's crazy!

When I get mine, I'll be putting Warns on it.

I'm sure you know this, but just because you put a snorkle on your FJ, does not mean the motor is ready for deep water crossings. There are so many electricals that need to be addressed.

Right, but protecting the engine from ingesting water is the primary concern.

k9crazy,
Is there a reason you did not get the wire mesh floor instead of the rail floors? Or is that all they had?

I didn't get the mesh so I could wash under it. The white roof already gets nasty fast. I had an Xterra with a basket before and I just about ruined the paint on top.

I got the Xtreme Sport Series for the front only. I'll be happy to post when I get the lights and figure out how the heck to drill without slipping and ruining the rack!

How can you tell he didn't get the mesh floor? I didn't see any pics posted where you could see the floor. All ARB racks have the rail floor, the mesh is merely welded on top.

UM....that's SHE not HE....:princess: :flipoff2:

Heather make sure you use a centerpunch with small hammer and then drill small pilot holes. Then work up to the size hole you want. If it's critical I don't make a mistake on the hole, like this application, then I might use 3 or so successively larger bits til I get to the final size.

Here's to success. Your Cruiser looks great :D

 :whoops: Sorry!

I wouldn't be that worried about the succesive drill bits thing, I usually just drill a 3/16" pilot hole and then drill to the correct size. Then again I use pilotbits which have a pilot hole tip built in.

I've drilled probably close to 10 holes in my ARB rack, and the only thing I would really worry about is to make sure and do some sort of rust preventative in the holes as they will rust if you don't.

Good luck!

Heather, looks awesome!

I have seen the ARB rack in person and I think it truly is a 'lifetime' product. Really beefy.

Thanks for the advice and the compliment. I figured successive holes are the way to go for me. I have a tendency to dive in and don't always go by that motto "measure twice cut once."

 :whoops: Sorry!

No worries, happens all the time!

Very good reminder...Thanks!:)

Thanks, I love it. I'd count it up as one of the better additions to the Cruiser.

Now that's using your head!! I had to buy a sponge on a pole in order to wash my roof under the rack. Needless to say that the roof only gets washed about 2% of the time when i wash the rig.

Actually, you played a part in that decision also. Yours was the first ARB I saw and I really liked it. But it spurred me to think about how to get under it to wash.

Hey Hez, I have a drill :)

For those of you who don't know, meet my smart a$$ brother Dan.

And for the record, I have my own damn drill.:flipoff2:
