I know tons of post are made asking Q's about which kit to use. I have read several over time but now I have some Q's of my own going over some of the same stuff.

I want to put an OME lift on my wifes 1989 FJ62. The only 60 series we have driven with the OME leaned allot in turns on regular roads. She wasn't to happy about that lean as it made her feel very uncomfortable. (Sorta like when we wheel on side hills in my FJ55 with a lift.) So I was thinking about going with the HD kit to maybe stiffen the springs up so it wouldnt lean as much during daily driving. Or was this guys 60 mentioned not the norm?

I will either go with a medium or heavy spring. I just want to make sure she is happy with it so I don't get any negative lash back.

btw... she is all for going front and rear ARB lockers.

Have the sway bars been removed?

And if you want it more for on-road driving, shouldn't you just grab some stiffer shocks? like some bilsteins with stiffer valving?

I have the ome heavy' s in my 62 and yes it also leans alot...also makes my wife nervous. Better solution is Sway bars and stiffer shocks as was already said.

Ive got the CS004 series springs on my 60, I put the stiffest shocks (ome) on. I do not care about around town ride, though I did not feel I needed the Heaviest springs on the rear I have rigged to carry a load of gear on long haul desert trips. Yes my rig still "dives" into turns if you try to take tight turns like you were in a modern car/truck designed more for the road than Off road. If I keep my head about me I find the handling is fine...sure would not want to do a high speed avoidance maneuver...Cause I bet it'd roll..

With my set up it handles way better than stock, and I had fresh Bilstiens on it with the stock springs and 33X9.5 BFG MTs on it...talk about diving into turns..yikes that was a scary set up (I live in the Mountains)

so I see maybe more tight turns than flatlanders...Bottom line..stiffer is better...do a search on the "lean" issues..lots of opinions on this, I went with two "A" rear springs I now sit level ( did not sit level with the A and B set up). Again do the search on this topic.

I don't think that stiffer springs is the right answer to avoid the diving... better with shocks/sway bar and poly bushings.

Stiffer springs might help it dive less, but it will make it a less pleasant ride.

OME has their stiffness/weight stuff pretty well mapped out. If you have a gasser w/ no bumper/winch dual battery, etc then you are likely to prefer the medium springs. If you have some of the above, go heavy. IF you have all of the above, go extra heavy.

Who is running sway bars with their lifts? Running both front and rear? If that would work out ok then I think some sway bar quick disconnects would be just fine when off roading.

What about using double OME shocks up front?

OME Lift

Last month I installed a OME medium deluxe kit on my 88 along with eagle alloy 058s and bfg 31 x 10.5s. I still have both sways hooked up as well. The ride is beautiful!! My wife was weary due to the overly stiff ride the OME gave our 4Runner. She loves the 62s lift. I don't have any issues with too much lean on cornering. I got got back from a 3000 mi trip and it did great. I highly recommend going thru Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters. Nice Setup and price,

I have a swaybar on with my medium Dakars, and it feels way better in turns than it did with the worn out old springs/shocks. It was a dramatic improvement in cornering stability for me going to the OMEs. Right now my truck doesn't feel too good in turns, but that may have something to do with the shifting inserts in the eyes (non-OME bushings) and a hybrid OME-OEM spring pack on the rear driver's corner.

If you get the OMEs, make sure you get OME bushings (I have some in the mail) and make sure you fix the eye-inserts in place before installing them. I love my Dakars, but they need a stern talking-to right now.

OME Heavy/Heavy is the way to go. Call Curt at Cruiser Outfitters and ask for the everything kit.

X2 - Get the whole enchilada with all the trimmings.

That's 'zactly what I have and it be nice. :D

I have both sway bars hooked up, too.

Cruiser Outfitters are 1500 usd for the Heavy Duty OME full meal deal minus shipping.

I noticed JT Outfitters isn't selling OME for the 60 Series any longer. But when he did the cost of the complete kit was well over 2500usd. Shipping to my house in Idaho was over priced as well.

I have another route I am going to take. If these are the lowest prices in the States and Canada?

I picked up my medium basic kit (less u-bolts, less greasable hardware, less steering dampener, cheapo bushings) from MAF for $840. I already had greasable hardware, got the u-bolts separately ($50 @ MAF), and am now getting the OME bushings from Kurt (~$70 for the 16 bushings that touch the springs).

If you are willing to skimp a bit, you can save some coin, but if you get the full kit from Kurt, you'll know you have it right from the get-go.

I'm not that far off that price with the Heavy OME complete kit shipped to my house. Looks like these might be the lowest prices in Canada, The States, and Mexico.

Whatever you do, make sure you get the heavy front springs. The front end of a 62 is too heavy for the mediums. A 62 weighs approximately 245 pounds more than 60, most of which is on the front half of the truck due to the auto tranny and the EFI bits.

Ok so if I were to custom make a complete kit what part number do I need for the front and rear springs and which shocks to use?

I will be using the front and rest sway bars with quick disconnects.

Is your wife aware that the OME lift is going to make it so tall that she is going to have to pull herself up into the driver's seat? My wife is 5' 7" and is reasonably athletic but she still has to boost her self to get in and out. OME Lifts are great in my opinion; the ride is better than stock. Wish there was a stock height one.

A few years ago I wrote to ARB in Australia and they said the light duty springs are meant as a factory replacement to improve the ride.

Ya she is aware.... thats why I was looking into the medium duty kit.... more then likely that is the route I am going to take and pray the sway bars help with leaning during turns or crazy swaying during highway driving, and nose diving during braking.
