ARB Air Comp Delimma - Are the New Ones Better than the POS I Have Now?

Please post up pictures of where you have this air compressor mounted.....

Won't get around to pics anytime soon - but like I replied above, it's mounted to the firewall next to the factory blower motor. Backing plate is just below glove box - if that helps with the height/location. It is vertical - hence the piston would be horizontal - tank and motor vertical.

Will consider relocating to the fender similar to the pic above if that's the contributing factor - is it in the install instructions? If so, I'd be guilty of probably skipping that chapter.

Temporarily installed the new CKMA12 in the original firewall position last night. The tank is at least half as big as the prior units - and run time is probably under 2 seconds and actuates the locker at least twice before needing to run another second or two. Like it - hope I am able to take better care of this one and it lasts a lifetime :D.

Still interested in knowing more about the horizontal versus vertical mounting theory - as if it's a proven fact (or heck, even a half believable voodoo theory) I'll be moving mine to the fenderwell shortly (like the pic someone posted) as there's room there + with all the wires for that and the FI harness - things are tight on my firewall.

Go to a shop that installs low rider stuff on trucks and has done so for awhile. Ask them about aircompressor mounting. They will tell you piston straight up or piston straight down. Most come with a 1 year warranty. If they mount them piston sideways or horizontal and they fail in 12 months, they have to eat the warranty.

Those lowrider guys use the heck out of thier compressors.
