I found another 80 I'm looking at but the guy said the passenger side axle has grease slung out and is making a noise. Any idea who would good around here to service the birfields? It's also about 150 miles away, do you think it would be safe to drive or should I have it towed? Just wondering what's the worst thing that could happen? I'm leaning toward having it towed if I buy it but he says he's been driving it without any problems. I would say towing back to Morristown will not be cheap.

slung grease means the wipers and felts are shot letting it leak by, ask me how I know. The noise is likely the birf. If you go to check it out you can pull out the little inspection plug on top of the birf to check the grease level. More than likely the inner axle seal is shot, oil has mixed with the grease and has leaked out around the knuckle ball. If it has been run low or out then the birf may be ripe for failure, and 150 miles on a questionable birf is iffy. if it had a CDL then I'd say pull the front shaft and drive flange, duct tape a solo cup onto the exposed end, pump the knuckle full of moly and go for it, but then again I tend to be a little redneck sometimes.

If you have concerns and you want the truck, figure the tow bill and use that in your negotiations. Otherwise, keep looking.

I'm going to get some quotes on a tow truck. The guy has come way off the price and for a locked 93, I think I'll go for it. I'm going to drive down tomorrow to look at it and pay him, hopefully a tow truck can be there in a day or 2 to bring it back to Morristown. Thanks!

Pulled the trigger, should be in Morristown by 8 or 9 this evening.

Pictures @10ga I need to do a front end rebuild on both my trucks, too bad you are like 4 hours east of Nashvegas or we could just have us a beer-n-Birf party. :D

She just rolled in about 30 minutes ago. I knew if waited I would finally get a locked 80 and the color I wanted. It's going to need a little work but all in all, in good shape. Got what I think was a hell of a deal. The seller hooked me up with the tow truck and got it towed from Chattanooga for $250.

Hope everyone has fun and safe Memorial Day weekend. God bless our soldier's past and present.

Cleaning out the cabinets in the garage in preparation for moving, found proof that my OEM OCDidness goes waaayyyy back.

I also may have a slight hoarding problem...

I was looking through some old photos today and ran across this one with my boys and my first Cruiser. They're grown now ( 25 & 27 ) and the old 1983 60 has been gone for a long time. Time sure does fly

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!! Hope everyone has a great day.

My wife thinks I've finally lost my mind, going to look at another 100 Series this week. I asked her what's better than having a Land Cruiser, having 2 of course :) While gas is cheap, might as well enjoy them. Found a 98 with rear locker, just had the timing belt, water pump, and valve cover gaskets done. Same owner for the last 15 years and a stack of service records. Doesn't hurt to look but I'm going to take some cash with me................just in case.

It's that time of year again, firing the smoker up around 6:00 AM Saturday morning and throwing a bunch of meat on. I enjoy summer but nothing like football time. Before you know it the temps will be cooling off and it will be time to start making some gumbo and chili. Plans this Saturday will be pork butts, yard bird, and some japs stuffed with cream cheese and rolled in bacon. My dove field I normally hunt wasn't ready so no doves breast for the smoker this Saturday but maybe in a couple weeks. I always have dove on the smoker for the 1st game day but will have to break tradition if I can't find some stuffed back in the freezer from last year.

Might even have to smoke a chub

Then there's the down time waiting on the meat to get done

Here's some dove breast from last year. I filet the breast off the plate, stuff with cream cheese and japs, and roll them in bacon. I would rather have these than pork butts.

Anyone heard from Lee? He hasn't been on here in awhile and he usually posts some good funny pictures. Hope he is doing well.

Too high for a bad motor. HG isn't bad to replace, but the bigger question is how long was it run hot and did it warp the head. Offer $2500 and see where that gets you. Also 1fz's aren't that easy to come by. Rance has one, but if he doesn't want to part with it, finding another could be a chore, and be ready to pay for it when you do.
