The group is getting bigger which is great, but makes it harder to coordinate the logistics of meeting before for breakfast.

Let’s just plan on meeting at Hwy 78 & Split Mtn Road intersection at 10:30 am. The plan is to do Split Mtn/Fish Wash and Sand Canyon if we have time. I've never done any of these trails, so I am not sure what to expect. Based on what Larry said above, it should be tame enough for stock cruisers.

For Coms, I'll be monitoring CB Channel 24 and Ham 146.460

PM me if you want my Cell. I am not sure if Cell works out there, but I believe it works close to Hwy 78.

For those who want to meet for breakfast, please let me know what makes sense.... Something local?

No problems there for stock trucks. You will have ample time to explore all those canyons, even with some stops and short hikes. I think we drove about 50-60 miles in total in those canyons last week, but could have done a lot more. Those who want more of a challenge can venture off into Broken Shaft Gulch.

There is a small primitive campground at the entrance to Split Mtn. There are restrooms there.

Sounds like a great plan! We are going to pass on breakfast and just meet up at the rally point. I will be in CB.

Cheers!

Hey guys!

I hope you all had a blast! I am sorry you weren't able to get my message about what happened to us. I felt bummed that you guys waited around as long as you did. I tried reaching you around 10:20 to let you know to go ahead. This was the first time my daughter has ever gotten car sick so we were caught a little off guard and had to turn around and head back to Julian to find her some clean clothes.

We made it out there and hoped to meet up and run into you guys, but it never happened. Next time! We had a lot of fun and explored every wash we came across, north fork, lycium, oyster shell, and Mullusk washes. We started heading up to Sandstone wash.... but decided that the little ones and already had enough and we should head back.... And it was a good call. My 4 month old definitely had enough of the car seat by the time we got home...... Any way, a couple of pics and I hope to meet up with you again in the future!

I had a blast today. Sorry we missed you Jonathan, but it appears you also had a great time. Pefrect weather and 250+ miles driven today with 12 hours in my Cruiser!

We started out at Hwy 78 and Split mtn road. We took Split Mtn road to Fish Creek Wash to Sand Canyon. We stopped and turned around at the end of San Canyon (which is awesome with its unique canyon walls) and tried go up Diablo Drop off, but decided to turn around.

Drove back out the way we came to Hwy 78 and crossed the road and took Fault Wash all the way up to Short Wash and over to Vista Del Malpais. Vista Del Malpais is a awesome lookout point. With elevation over 1000ft, it has some amazing views.Continued down Short Wash to Fonts Point. Fonts Point is probably the best location of the day. Amazing views from high above of all of the desert

Thanks Everyone for making this an awesome day!

I had a great trip out a couple days before you guys. I went out with a couple of VW Manx and Baja Bug, my bosses VW Thing broke the night before I got out. We didn't do much wheeling but saw some cool stuff none the less.

We hit up the Air Plane Grave Yard

On our way back to our camp at Peg Leg we checked out many of the statues being created by a local Mexican Artist.
