OK here's the deal, I'm going to do a D60 swap in the front of my FJ but i'm thinking about trying to do a Hydraulic assist kit on it before i cut all the IFS stuff out.

I was just wondering if anyone was interested in seeing how it turns out. If there is no interest then I'm not going to take up space on the forum.

Be warned!!! i am not going to try to make it look pretty AT ALL! It will just be an experiment to see if i can do it. Or rather if it can be done at all.

just noticed i spelled attempt wrong. sorry

Lol ok Delancy.

And so it begins....

the brace right behind the rack and pinion has to go to make room for the ram.

Who wouldn't want to see what comes of your project? Where else could you share such carnage?

Please document and post pics as you drop the IFS and throw in a D60, should be a fun project...

I all ready have a build thread goin but just no time to build. here at work i get to just walk out back and make the minions do it.

May look at means to strengthen the rack, can tabs, tie rods, and spindles, cause its gonna need it.

Nope not gonna get into that. just gonna mount a ram to see if can be done. Besides i already have the Rough country knuckles on it and the rack will have less stress on it after the ram install. Someone else can build the tie rods.

Anyone want to take bets on how long it takes me to bend the stock tie rods.

I'll be your huckleberry.

Give it minutes, maybe within lowering it off lift and turning on concrete.

Few questions, out if curiosity.

What type of rod ends can be attached to the IFS tie rod and still move with?

Well since the rack moves in a straight line and the ram moves in a straight line, as long as you get them parallel why would you need any kind or joint?
Maybe just a bushing like the old Ford Steering cylinders had?

I have started on the base end mount and will get it finished in the morning. goodnight!

As we both know, I'm ram mount challenged.

That's not what I heard.

Climb one mountain, they call you a mountaineer,

Mount one ram . . . .

I am going HP D60 in the near future but undecided on the rear. I have 14bolts and a Sterling 10.25 so i'll just have to see how i feel when i get close.

I have everything except the tires and shocks. Once i can save the money for those pieces i'll get it done.

I had spoken to Currie about a complete bolt in rear with 9", or 80 centre in the past, in case the little rear didn't hold up with the solid pinion spacer mod, with 4.56's from Nitro.

OK quick update on the ram mount .

RAM IS IN AND WORKING!!! WOOO HOOO!!!

I drove it around the block and no problems. it's late and i'm tired of working in 101 degree heat so i'm going home. I'll fill everyone in tomorrow on how it does on the highway. Pictures will be included with update for those unbelievers.
