O.K. guys, it looks as if..... I'm going!!! The nut on the steering wheel was fine!!! LOL!!!, all the thing need was another carb, and it runs good (a little blue smoke still, but not terrible). May need valve work to cure the smoke, but that will happen over the winter. See you guys there and I can't wait!!!!!

Yes, WL and I represented Austin. I will let WL comment on his thoughts.

Let me say that this is a MUST ATTEND event. The Missippi gang did a fantastic job of planning and hosting, the prizes were great, and the trails were too. Superlift has mild to wild trails, so there is something for everyone. I was able to take Elsie on her Maiden Voyage and push her as far as I felt comfortable. I do know I hate front drums, so the disc conversion will be very soon. But she did great. In fact, the wife wanted to go out wheeling a second time.

Outside of trailer blowout about 5 miles outside of Hot Springs on Thursday, there were no surprises and everything went smoothly. The Cajuns cooked Friday night- free food and free Abita beer as well as live music. On Saturday, more free beer and pretty darn good BBQ, even by Texas standards. And some great raffle items. No winning tickers for me, but I did catch an ARB hat. The wife and kids had a blast too. If you need to get the better half's signoff, I would say this is more wife and kid friendly than Roundup- lots of wives and kids running around. So bring your family next year, and if they get bored, they can always go to Hot Springs activities. We stayed at the KOA Kabins which are great alternatives to tent camping.

In total, there were more than 100 trucks that came. There were a lot of Louisiana folks, and 20 something from the New Orleans club- Land Krewsers- which is only 10 months old. And about 6-7 guys from Georgia came over, including Sid and AuburnFJ for those who know them. They put all their trucks on a semi-truck.

I know some of you say it's too far, but its really not. The MS guys drive 11 hours to BFE Texas for Roundup. The drive to Hot Springs is only 8 and you get to go to a resort town with lots of other things to do. I know this year it happened to coincide with the Texas/OU game (if you want to call that a game, sadly), as well as ACL. Bodean brought a TV and satellite to watch his Golden Eagles play, so there was live football. The fam and I are headed back next year so hopefully some more folks can make it.

As far as rigs, the best IMO was a near mint FJ75. A picture says 1000 words....

very coo.l i told you. You would have a good time. I love to wheel up there. Who won the winch i donated?

winch????? Someone must have stashed it b4 the deal...........

I guess I should have bribed WL into hiding it since he took it up.

I dont know the fella who won it, he was a Louisiana guy that I had not met before.

SCC was great, although, Superlift ORV Park it is NOT for a carburated truck!!!! (the hard trails anyway) The wife is the picture taker and all she got this time was some video from our first run out with some Georgia guys..who incidently are a blast to wheel with. Then it rained and I didn't go out much until Saturday, then I drove around with Jason to shake down his 55. The park itself is spectacular (to me) to say the least, all the trails mostly weave between the trees and can be tight in some places (rubbed the side of my truck on one trail). The fall leaves are in full color which made the event pretty neat, awesome views from some parts of the park. All trails are pretty well maked as to difficulty and the maps are accurate so you don't get lost. Some trails are "one way" which is good.

As far the trails, if I was trying to explain them, I would say they remind me of Trees Ranch, only bigger boulders that roll out from under your tires, steeper and probably more aggressive climbs out.

I can honestly say what the Mississippi boys do for a shin-dig, is ACTUALLY A SHIN-DIG!!! Jeff, Job, Lash, Greg, the whole bunch did a great job so everyone could have a great time, lots of great folks and trucks (over 100 from what I heard, their biggest event yet). This is an event that I will attend again, just about 9 hrs from Austin, it's not a great distance (they drive further going to Mason), the area has a lot to do with the family.

I can't say enough..well let me say it this way...Too numerous to mention, must attend and see to appreciate. I WILL be converting to God's gas.....propane..... after this trip.

Glad to see y'all had a great time. You may want to consider fuel injection. Are you running a Holley? I can get my Edlebrock carb pretty steep before it starts to choke out. Also run a fuel regulator set at 3psi to help limit flooding. That's helps me.

WL- I did mention this to FJ40Charles when I talked to him last night, He also said to go FI over propane. As you know, his rig is pretty modified so he may know a thing or two :grinpimp:

Awesome shots and vids of Elsie, will pass on sharing this with George for now. This would have been a hell of a lot more fun than my trip to Dallas for what amounted to as a $110 corny dog consolation prize! I'm in next year!

I am running an Edlebrock at 2 psi, I bought a new one several week ago after discovering several linkages missing off the one I was running. Mine loaded up badly in the rough sections, and stalled quite a bit on some of the steeper climbs out of the trails. I did replace the float needles with the off road ones while I was there (scavenged them from the old carb), it even loaded up on an easy climb with Jason once. I though about FI several times, the thing I like about the propane set up is....no wiring, all hoses. One of the guys from Georgia had a problem with his set up, turns out it was only trash in the regulator, can't be any easier than that, besides, in most cases, propane is cheaper than gasoline. I still have some time to decide, but after talking to so many people running propane, and after a long discussion with Boss Man, I am leaning heavily towards the propane.....

Thanks for the kind words guys! We have really tried to make it as family friendly as possible and the kids usually have a blast running around. The more wives that come the better time they have as well. Sometimes the music is too loud or we stay up too late but hey, we are having fun and we get a little carried away. You can't put a 11:00 pm quite time rule into effect when the MS boyz are coming to town! Ha!

**** EFI i ran PP for years on both of my buggys with no problems. when we would roll onto our lid it would still be running (smoked like a train but still ran). you say who cares about upside down. well if you are on your side it will still run and you can right your self. EFI will run out of fuel unless you have a full tank of gas. then you start loosing fuel. also when your wire's melt to your header because the zip ties came loose with efi you will not be fixing it very fast. but with a one wire PP set up your back up and running in a few min.
if i still have a perpus built rig i would go with PP. it can be a pain to find but you will get used to keeping extra tanks around. I did.
i ran PP on my rigs before the fad took off here so i had to really find all the parts. now days there easy to find and set up. it you want to do it. let me know and i will help you build it and get it in tune.

I've got it penciled in for 2013 too.

Thanks Edwin, I've been checking things out since I got back, you were on my short list here in Austin to talk to ( and I mean a REALLY short list lol!!!) as you had mentioned running propane before. I will come by soon and talk.

There was no one around and I think Bodean and his crew were out on a trail when I arrived. I dropped the winch and some coozies off with the rest of the raffle prizes.
