This summer we have plans to stay at Emerald Lake in Yoho Park. The wife, kid, my sis and Mom are traveling by plane, but my Dad and I are driving up in the FJ55, so we can start fishing B.C. waters right away :D Plus I want the rig so we can get to some cool places.

Anybody been in that area? Any recomendations on 4x4 roads that lead to great fishing or photography. I have the Columbia Forest service map and it shows some interesting roads to take.

We will be going up in late July early August.

Yoho is a national park, hence no off-roading with vehicles (hiking is great and very much encouraged). But the good news is that along the Kooteny and Arrow lakes south of Revelstoke is some realy great wheeling and fishing. There are number of Cruiser heads in that area that could give more details, and maybe even show you around. It is beautiful country and you and the family are going to love it.

If your wife is flying into Calgary you may even get a mudder to go out to the airport to greet her.:D

I might be willing to pick her up in my 45.

A ha, I just looked again at the map, the roads I saw are in the Kootenys. That makes sense that there would be no offroading in the National Parks  We plan on doing a ton of hiking, it is still my favorite mode of travel. Trails.com has some good info and I was going to buy a hiking guide.

We have always really loved Canada. My Dad and I used to come up and canoe remote areas of B.C. and stay out for a week or two.:cheers:

If you want to do some hiking get reservations for some of the trails there. Yoho Valley and Lake O'Hara. Both are very beautiful but are often booked as soon as they accept reservations.

I've been to both and can recommend both.

What kind of a winter was it up there? How do you think the water conditions will be? Trout fever is starting to set in :grinpimp:

150% of normal snowpack!! Don't expect the high areas to be clear of snow for a while.

Wow.......I guess you guys got all our snow ;p
