Hi, I've seen lots of 40's + Firemans 45 (very nice) with widened steel wheels.

Anyone else got photos of these on a 45. Ideally soa!

Trying to get ideas for my build.

Many thanks
Simon

Eventually, yes. I have had a set of split rims re-barreled to be 17x8 with 4.75 BS. I am also running on 60 series axles SOA. Currently these are at the powdercoater. More pics once back and with the Toyo Open Country MT in 285/75 x 17's mounted and on the rig.

Also have added clips since that shot so I can run hubcaps.

Don't know if this helps as I've never had the widened steelies on my 45 but they have been on my 40 and 55. Tires are 33 x 12.50's.

Never thought to barrel them up to bigger diameter, I look forward to seeing that. I guess that allows you such big backspacing as you will have lots of clearance for steering arm etc.

Thanks for the other photos, definitely the way I want to go.

My 45 is a 67, restored but SOA and SBC etc, really like the OEM look.

Does anyone know if BDP put steelies on his 45 in the end? I messaged him but no reply. In his original build thread he said he planned to. That truck is pretty much what I'm aiming for.

cheers.

On my FJ45 I don't have them widened, but on my FJ43 they are.

They are a lot wider for the 33x12,5 tires and not to have that "balloon look" of to small rims and also a steel ring with decorative bolts mounted on it was welded on.

Hope it helps !

NOS 15x5.5 wheels, rebarreled to 16x7. Bought 6 new wheels from Toyota, had the dealer ship them to one of the shops in Cali known for this type of work (Stockton wheel?). They sent them back, PC'ed black, in a couple weeks. Wrapped with new LT 265/75R16 all-season rubber for street driveability.

6 new OEM wheels
+ 6 widened
+ 5 new OEM hubcaps
+ 5 Michelin LTX radials

= Nice rolling stock (but expensive).

Widened to 8" with 2" back spacing.

That is such a nice troopy, so tastefully finished, makes me question whether I SOA or not.

Think SOA suits the proportions of the pick up better. Maybe SUA is best for Troopy like this beauty.

Right around $200 each wheel. Powder coating separate.

Mine were $105 each to widen (OEM centers on new outers). Welding only, no finishing.
