Anyone else running wink 4x4 possibly non intercooled?

Was referred to them by another Canadian, him and a few friends bought some turbos all at once. No complaints at all, said night and day difference to stock CT26. He said one turbo came and it was no good, not sure what was wrong with it. Anyways they sent him a new turbo within a week.

Sounds like good customer service worth reporting and supporting.

@Moridinbg Sorry to hear of your bad experience with Remy. I did not check back on this thread in time and ended up ordering a new turbo. So far communication has been great and now just waiting on shipping. Plan to install initially without an intercooler and see how it goes. Will keep you posted.

Also ordering one soon! He’s been great.

I've been running one for three years at ~25psi max without an IC.

Pros:
It'll blow your mind vs. stock, no doubt about it. But that's also easy to accomplish from stock! I run my rig super hard towing a built out ~4000lb M101 military trailer over huge grades and off-road and it's held up just fine.

Cons:
  • It was definitely NOT in an OEM housing as specified. I remember comparing it to photos of the cheapos circulating on eBay, etc. at the time and it seemed identical including fin count.
  • Threads in housing are different than OEM where bottom studs go in, Remy supplied bolts instead which obviously doesn't show up on any exploded view diagrams so that was a bit confusing. He never responded to my email about this.
  • His supplied water line gaskets seemed like garbage compared to the OEM I bought and installed.
  • Actuator linkage rubbed on housing. Moved OK but seemed weird? He never responded to my email about this.
  • The casing was a little off in terms of size which made installation difficult. The solid line oil tube on bottom required slight bending from factory which was VERY difficult to do in situ because you're threading into a casing so you don't want it to strip (I think it took an hour + in awkward positions to get it just right), and IIRC the two halves the exhaust manifold were very difficult to put together due to this difference in size as well. I remember feeling like MANY HOURS were spent during install adjusting to non-OEM fit of the housing.
  • It whistled quite loudly. That went away after a few months (?!?) but then last year I realized I had a MASSIVE (near-complete) tear in my rubber intake pipe! When I replaced with silicone the whistle came back. I contacted Remy about this in March for advice (should I be worried or how do I at least make it stop b/c it's annoying?) and again he never responded to my email. I *HOPE* this is an intake restriction issue and not associated with the turbo itself but I don't know because he never responded.

For $400 more than I paid 3 years ago you can get the Gturbo Badboy Extreme that'll go up to 40psi....so it seems like the price difference between Wink and Gturbo must have closed up because I remember it being more substantial than that (or a Wink is now LESS than I bought it for 3 years ago which seems unlikely).

P.S. I made sure I had every possible part in the exploded view for the exhaust manifold on hand during install and I was glad I did.

How did the turbo work out? I got referred to Wink today after finding out my stock CT26 is starting to leak. Everyone still happy?
Didn’t go with a wink turbo, I would in future just based on his response time and knowledge. Seemed like a great person/company to deal with.

The Lack of communication and responding to emails is something i also experience with Remy. Never getting a responce. I have problems with an 12ht new pistons install he has done to hastly and never got a proper response ore a fix. If you stand by you product and see yourself as a professional you offer customer service and non is every being provided by Remy. He doenst want to help when you need him! Think twice!

Just to follow up on my turbo whistle/whine/noise mentioned above, I finally replaced my intake gaskets last weekend and it has totally gone away at lower boost. SO MUCH QUIETER! However, once I get up near 20psi it starts whining/whistling and that, I believe, is an intake restriction issue.
