And how did you go about it? Much cutting? Mount them behind the panel, or exposed front speaker?

I did it as well. I had to cut some of the sheet metal on the door to make it fit. No big deal. I had them exposed.

I mounted mine behind the panel. Low profile speakers. I didn't cut the panel, just let them blow thru the factory grill. The panel bulges out a little at the speaker, but not much.

So no cutting? Did you use a baffle? Non components? I must say Wagoneer, your graphics package on that 60 is by far the mpst beautiful I have seen. I just love looking at it...

I put a pair of infinity kappa 6.5"s in my doors. I removed the original grills, cut out the openings using the included plastic enclusures as a template (not very much). Then i had to make a couple of cuts in the sheetmetal of the door to clear the back of the speaker. I just made 2 radial cuts and then pushed the metal in a little. These were "low profile" speakers so it didnt take much to fit them. I will snap a couple pics if you are intersted. Came out really well in my opinion.

I would love to see pics BRAM. I am biting the bullet on some Rainbow's (German audiophile equip) and will be deadening and baffling the doors, I just wanted to see what other have done. I think these are only about 2+ inches deep and most reccommend anything below 2.5 inches.

I put a pair of polk audio's in my front doors, they would not fit flush so i had to use a spacer so they protrude about an inch from the panel. They dont bother me, look fine, and sound great.

I mounted some Pioneer 6 1/2 in my front and rear doors without any trouble. In the front I put them in the stock location after I enlarged the original opening. I did not have to cut any metal but I did have to use some spacers on the speakers to provide the clearance in back. In the rear doors I put I just cut holes out of the door panels and mounted the speakers up. I've had them in for about three years now with no problems.

Just put a pair of JBLs in the front door. They weren't the special shallow ones and they fit just fine. Kinda like the way you can "aim" the tweeter.

I put a set of 6.5" Alpines in the front doors and cargo area (for the drive-in). I ditched the front grills and used the ones that came with mine. I did have to cut the panel a little and redrill holes for the speakers. Then I used bolts and washers instead of screws to keep everything from rattling. Well, at least keep the speakers from rattling...the rest of the truck came with the "rattle" option when I got her.

Made a spacer...

I put Rockford Fosgate 6.5" in the doors. I just made a plywood spacer, you can see it, but I painted it black....doesn't rattle, sounds fine...

the spacer I made was circular ring, about 1/4" wider than the speaker mounting ring.

HTH

went around with this a bit and ended up with shallow mount speakers mounted from the front. takes up most of the space and only a little bit of whittling to get the space proper for the speaker to sit well into.

you can user thicker speakers, but they stick out and in the way i feel.

did you guys just mount them in the doors to open air? or did you some how make a small enclosure to set them in. I found some small thin plastic style enclosures for my 6.5's but have yet to take the time to mount the speakers. The main reason I got them was to keep any water that may ceep in the door off the speakers and to hopefully get a better sound as well. I have some Diamond hex speakers to mount in there . I'll probobly put the cross overs for them under the dash to keep them dry as well. Need to get off my ass and do this.

I would definitely mount the crossovers in the truck as opposed to in the door. Next time it rains check to see if you have any water in the door. I am going to deaden every piece of metal in the doors and seal off any cutouts in the door effectively making them a box in and of themselves

I mounted the crossovers in the doors because there were less wires to pull through the skinny rubber seal from the body to the door. Big mistake. They rusted badly.

I mounted it right in the door, with no enclosure. The speakers I pulled out had looked/worked fine and had been in there at least ten years... no water damage. In my limited experience, the small enclosures don't have enough volume, and the bass suffers. If you are running a sub, this won't apply.

WAVEPIMP- Mine are free air. They sound great.
