Anyone mount a hi lift jack on their roof rack?

Heading to Moab and would like to throw some mounts for the hi lift jack on the roof rack. It won't live up there all the time - just on these types of excursions. Wondered if anyone had used these types of brackets on the roof rack successfully.

I've seen a lot of people with these mounts. But my question is what is keeping someone from taking off with the mounts and hilift? Theyd only need a cresent wrench

I was planning on locking it with a cable or bike lock or something. I suppose that someone could still unbolt the either the brackets or the jack and then let it dangle on side of the rig, causing damage. I'll have to think about it.
