Only thing I miss was the increased mileage in the bone stock version.

You sound just like me, until I did it.Wow. Impressive.
I don’t have that kind of skills so I’m at the mercy of the Toyota parts dealers and my mechanic.
do you miss having a sports car or do you have one of each? This is a great thread and I appreciate the lack of intensity with defending personal choices on builds. My reality is I bought another LC because I wanted to get back to my pinnacle of comfort and reliability after spending the last 10 years with German sports cars...I will not use it to anywhere close to its full capability. Light exploration through southern Appalachia and western NC is more than fine with a highway tire...the vanity in me wants a meatier setup just for looks, like my 100 had. But, I am admittedly thinking about ride comfort more than I ever have. I'm heeding a lot of the feedback on E/LT ratings. I'm on a Michelin defender at the moment that I love and could always go back to.
If I had to guess if I jumped to a non K02 A/T...I do think I'd have no qualms about the decision and the differences would be negligible, but after being in a 911 2 inches off the ground the last couple years...I don't really want to go out of my way to intentionally degrade ride quality too much. I love the zero frills nature of the current setup.
I’ve always had both up until now. I wanted to increase my daily budget so it’s only 1 at the moment. Saving up for another toy and always planned to get another car, so I do miss it in small doses but looking forward to what I compliment it with and knew this wasn’t going to be long term 1 car garage. I also have a good friend who lets me scratch the itch should I need. View attachment 3685895
Same boat. had an Evo X and now I find myself looking at S5 Sportbacks and such but I'd have to sell my LX to do so. Have two kids and just keep asking myself if I'm going to miss the LX or nottrust me I get it...I was 31 with a 991.2 911 and a 2005 LX asking WTF I was doing spending this much money on cars. Another time and place, glad I did it now so I can get back to it later.

Yeah that’s why I kept mine stock. I learned from experience modding my 60, 100, and Land Rover Discovery. None of the mods, bumpers, winches, or racks made one bit of difference in the trips I take. Not one. Waste of money.
Only mod that ever mattered for me was tires.
I put new shocks on mine at 105k and would struggle to say it made any difference at all.I am no questioning your need at all...but I am surprised to hear you say that you need new shocks at 100k. Really shouldn't be the case. Not sure if it was this thread, or another that mentioned a member replacing shocks at mileage past yours and it making no difference. Have you had the diag'd and confirmed an issue?
I do a monthly 235 mile one way and then 235 back from my parents place, sometimes two times a month. The roads are decent highway/interstate but have track problems in right hand lanes due to heavy loads. I ride right except to pass and I am typically running 80+ and I can feel the vehicle taking longer and longer to recover from bumps in road. Few places through Houston were ride is getting scarry if I do not slow down to legal posted speeds. With 30+ years of driving behind me my but is saying shocks are not doing their job any more. I might be wasting money but I do not think so. New shocks will prove me right or wrong. Also going to do coolant replace. It time for brakes again on front and possibly the rear. I will also be doing a transmission fluid drain and replace what comes out from just drain. I not comfortable pulling the pan or doing a flush. I think every 10K starting at 100k I will will drain transmission fluid and refill the amount that drains out. I tow a boat every time I go to my parents. I take my dad and me fishing. All my other miles are just groceries, lunch dinner, errands, etc.. with the wife.I am no questioning your need at all...but I am surprised to hear you say that you need new shocks at 100k. I replaced mine at 106K. One was leaking a little. I do a fair amount of logging/mining/desert road driving. There was only a slightly noticeable differenceI am no questioning your need at all...but I am surprised to hear you say that you need new shocks at 100k. Really shouldn't be the case.
