Anyone know someone or want to bid on a 15 yard concrete slab project?

I already checked the member services offered thread and didn't see any masons. I'm looking for someone to pour an L shaped piece connecting my driveway and back patio.

Looking for estimates. I already have one quote from a guy named Lopez who isn't licensed, bonded or insured. Not really excited about that sort of thing. Also, other than moving my junk out of the way and pounding some stakes in the ground, I'm not going to be good for much other than watching and paying the bill.

PM me or post if you are that someone or know someone or know someone who knows someone who can (and wants) to do it right.

So far looking pretty good

I didn't get any club guys responding. I started calling random numbers from phone book.

I have 1150 square feet and have been getting quotes of $3.00 to $3.50 per square foot. 3000 psi concrete with fiber. Grading and haul off included.

15 yards delivered from AZ Ready Mix was a little more than $1,200 for the concrete delivered. Fiber is $6 a bag at 1 per cubic yard. So $80-$90 a yard?

Where is this extra $2250 in labor going? That's 2 guys for 4 days, 8 hours per day, @ $35 / hour.

Anyone got any recent jobs they've done and care to share the cost per foot?

Thats why as a kid my Dad and I would lay all our own concrete. Just keep networking and asking around. In this economy, Im sure youll run across someone who will do it at a reasonable price.

have you contacted Spike ? I think he hasn't been on much lately.....

That's actually not abnormally high.

Concrete - $941 (We pay 67-70 per CY for 3,000 psi depending on location)

Labor - $640, (4 guys, $20/hr for 1 day)

Overhead - $320

Total Cost (Before profit) - $1901

On a tiny job like this a profit margin of 30-50% is not uncommon. You might be able to find somebody who's willing to do it for $2,500 if you keep hunting, but with you wanting them to touch up the grade and hit it with a plate tamp and all that, $3 a sf isn't really bad.

$3.00 -$3.50/ FT Is pretty decent pricing these days. I poured 25 yards a couple years ago when concrete was at $100+/cy. Your quotes aren't out of line, however, your first sentance was completely out of line. "Masons" build structures out of bricks and stones, "Monkeys" pour concrete. No, we have neither listed in the member services thread, but monkeys can be found at any local Home Depot parkinglot.

HA! Mason's and Monkeys

Hmm...:hhmm: My kids would like it if I brought some monkeys back to the house.

I prefer monkeys that have opened more than a handful of bananas, are capable of grooming, don't fling poo, know which branches to swing from, and don't have missing body parts. That might be a tall order, even for Home Depot.

concrete work

My father has been doing concrete for over 30 years, he's now retired but he does do some side jobs. Shhot me your address if you are interested and he can provide an estimate.

Thanks to the folks who provided numbers. The work turned out great. Actually was 24.5 yards all said and done. It totalled about $4500 with some extra trenches for electrical conduit under the slab. It took about a week, and they came back and applied Arizona Seal to the top after it set up.
