Looks sweet!

Very nice!

Question:
He states " The undercarriage and engine compartment were also repainted the original black color. "

Is a black engine compartment a stock thing? Looks like the firewall, inner fenders, and underside of the hood are black rather than the body color?
(I know its not stock for later year FJ40s.)

My 64 FJ45 lwb was patinted black under the hood like that BUT under the black was the freeborn red body color. Therefore, I thought the black was something done by a previous owner. Am I wrong?

I haven't seen a FJ45 with a different color under the hood that didn't match the body color. It looks like the PO or current owner painted it that way.

It blows me away the amount of time and detail folks will put into a rig and completely ingnore under the hood...or in this case blast the whole thing black.

ditto... I think the black under the hood looks terrible. Even if toyota did it that way, I would still paint it the body color.

Having a 64 I kinda like the simplicity of the black engine bay as compared to my 76.

Black is correct firewall, underhood and a few other spost for that vintage. IMHO it's pretty correct from things I see and know of for a 63. Even down to the dealer installed heater and color on the turn signal housing. It's missing correct hub caps, seat is black, you can see the red piping on it though. I don't like the bumperettes the same color but that's easily changed out, same for the front bumper.

Very nice IMHO.

Black is correct for that vintage

My 63 is black on the firewall and it seems to be stock, fender well were also but not of good quality, peeling ect. I agree with the exterier color in the engien compartment looks best.

this is very nice truck, incompete cab vertical seam is there as should be., the interior sure seems to be stock behind the seat.

Very Clean.

Could the black firewall be an up to 64 feature?

My 65 66 and 67 SWB/LPB are all body color under the bonnet. I stand corrected on the earlier models

My 9/64 LPB appears to be original black under the bonnet, so perhaps!

This is interesting. I'm pretty sure the black on the firewall and inner fenders of my 64 fj45 lwb had red under it but I'll have to have a closer look.

The original primer is sometimes red on these trucks (my FJ40's was).
