Looking at tires today and can't believe how expensive the Revos are. Discount tire mail order wants $197 for the 265/75-16 size. This is more than I would pay at retail for Michelins. Anyone know of a better source?

BTW - for other tire shoppers Costco has a $60 rebate on any 4 Michelin or BFG purchase until 6-25.

Thanks,

DougM

Bought some Revo's a few year ago for a different rig, bought from a local America's Tire (same as Discount Tire, I believe), they matched Costco's price, including the $100 mail in rebate they had going for Bridgestones at the time (they just discounted it, no need to do rebate BS). They also included 4 tire replacement certificates (~$15 each), for free. They have had the best prices, every time I have priced tires, usually by a decent margin. I recommend you give a local America's tire a call, or better yet go in and negotiate for a good deal.

I just bought a set of four 285 Revos for $799 mount/bal and sales tax included from a local Discount Tire - cheapest place I could find them. Does that $197 price include shipping? If so, that's probably not bad.

About a year ago I purchased four in the stock size from the local Firestone store for around $650. They originally quoted me around $850, but then matched the price I could get them at Costco (but were not in stock).

Costco online no longer lists the Bridgestone Revos, nor does the Americas Tire website. I'm in the same boat. America's Tire has the non-Revo Dueler AT 693s for $171 each, which is a decent price. I had those on another truck and they were fabulous. Wish I could find the Revos for a little cheaper.

I just put a gash in the sidewall of one of my 1/2 tread Toyos ~ down to the sidewall belts. Ouch. Still holding air, but that can't be real safe. Just pushing on the tire you can feel the spot above the gash has more give to it than the rest of the sidewall. Damn. $1,000 rocks suck.

Doug- Discount/American Tire seems to be the place to go to pricematch. I also had a good experience at a Firestone tire place, where I got 4 285 Revos a couple of years ago for $700 w/ mount/balance after some bargaining.

C6H12O6- you can get a used Toyo for cheap or, at worst, a new Toyo manually worn to match the rest of your tires.

Yeah, thought of that, but I've got another tire that has some pretty nasty cuts through the outermost lugs all the way around the tire. Must have spun the tire on something sharp. It would be an ok spare, but I really should get two tires. I'll look into that though. I'll stop by Les Schwab tonight after work and see what they say.

FWIW, TireRack.com has the 285/75-16 Revos for $168 each plus shipping. Their shipping quote to the PNW is only $112 for a set of 5. Not too bad.

I was quoted on the 285/75/16 Revo approximately $190 each from a America's Tires here in San Jose, CA. Their website lists $228 each; but they agreed to match Tirerack's price ($168) plus the estimated Tirerack s&h to my area ($22 each).

You gotta love paying MT prices for AT performance :flipoff2:

yeah, makes me wonder whether I'd almost be better off with a set of MTs. I'm compiling a list of different tires and their diameters and weights to try and find an MT that maybe wouldn't be as big of a hit in the MPG department.

For people stepping up to 285s from the stock 275s, how big of a difference was the mileage? I know... search.

Just find a local bridgestone dealer and give them a chance, I called them on a whim and they quoted me a price lower than tirerack with no shipping and they had a fairly cheap install. I got out under $750

John

I just stepped up from 275/70/16's crappy tires to 285/75/16 Revo's. I lost a little power, it brakes a little longer now, and the mileage seems to be about the same... maybe a tad worse. I have stock suspension thus far.

It makes the truck look 100% better and I expect the same when I take it off road.

I just got a quote on the phone from a Firestone/Bridgestone shop...

The 285 Revos were $198 each, plus install when the conversation started. By the time I got off, I had a quote of $823.55 for a set of 5, mounted, balanced, out the door.

That beats the Costco BFG AT price by $72, which was the deal I was trying to beat with the Revos. Might have to jump on that. I guess my wife's new tires on the Honda will have to wait. Shucks.

Doug,

Check out http://www.firestonecompleteautocare.com/

Looks like there are three different Revos (with different load ratings) for your tire size. The lowest (P265/75/16) is $150 each. Find your closest store and bargain from there.

C6H12O6,

That is one heck of a deal. I'd jump on it - gotta love the no tax deal.

Frank.

holy crap! I paid $149 a tire + mount/balance, for a total of $850 out the door for five.

That was at Radial Tire Co. about a year/year and a half ago. Dunno if they are a nationwide chain or just a local chain.

onlinetires.com has them for $160 each (285 75 16). Their shipping is usually higher than DT ($71 by UPS to 83835 zip).

Steve,

Gonna get some - maybe we can do a nine tire deal that's better?
Gonna be passing through Coeur d'Alene again this summer (I'll buy ya dinner to carry 4 Revos)?

....just this past saturday I bouught the 285's x5 @ $950 range. Regarding post #14, if you check the website after you locate a dealer, there is a choice to ' get a quote'. My quote came in @ $1050 out the door, but when I arrived they asked if I had been given a price , to which I answered yes and then they responded w/ $100 LESS THAN the info I had in hand. Needless to say , I promptly put away my notes and signed up !

Love dem Revo's !

Cruiserman,

Wow - nice find! That's $620 or so to my door and the local dealer wants $920. I think I can find a place to mount/balance them for the difference, ya know? Heck, I can get them force balanced on Hunter at Les Schwab for $80, so I'm still ahead $220. Thank you.

DougM
