Just an update:

I picked up some .120 DOM this week along with a bunch of flat stock

Picked up the anchors today. There is an amazing hardware shop in town that has been around since the 1940's. Very good ppl and they have everything in stock. Great pricing too. Got the 4 anchors, bolts, and washers for $30

Unfortunatly I cut across two knuckles this week with a razor knife. So one finger is in a splint (cut to bone). Been doctering this one myself. One of my workers left a razor knife on the ground.....open and I went over to help him, nelt down fist first right on the blade. A little set back in starting my project.

What an idiot. Sorry to hear that. Get well fast. No tendon damage? Will you have full mobility after it is all healed?

I got rid of my flares in prep to bend flares out of tube. Going to tube most of the rear quarter. Front fender area kind of like ARB but hopefully much stronger.
What are you making?

Ahh, he's a good worker and s*** happens. I catch myself doing that with the knife sometimes too. I didn't go to doc, but I am thinking it's all good. I was back to working 20 min later. I can barely feel any pain in my hands due to the construction business. I'll be bending tube next week regardless. Just might loose a little uuummmphh in the bends. I don;t start another job/work until Dec. 30 so I should be able to get some good headway in that time.

Ok that's good.

Finally got around to mounting the bender in my shop today. I ended up taking back the 3/4" drop in concrete anchors and getting 5/8" instead. These take a 7/8" hole in the floor. That was the biggest masonary bit I already owned. Worked out great. It's in there like a rock. Harware cost was $25

Is it possible to make a PDF template of the mounting base?

I would if it wasn't already bolted to the ground. I could give you the measurments of the holes. They are in a square pattern. Easy to get pattern off measurement.

ok that will do I guess.

Did you get the software yet?

No software. I am still sticking to the old fashion way. We will see how it works with the learning curve. I will be starting tomorrow.

I'll get you the measurements in a few min.

Here is the mounting pattern. Holes I drilled are 7/8" . I started with a 1/4" masonary bit then worked my way up to 7/8". I left the bolt in the anchor and hammered it in with a 3lb. hammer. Hole depth has to be the exact depth of the achor so it sits flush with the floor.
I can source the drop in anchors locally for you also. Seemed like a really good deal.

Well I put in my first day on the bender. Sure is a learning curve. I started on the drivers front. After botching 2 pieces while getting used to the bender I was able to get one side almost done. Did I say learning curve....Overall I think it looks ok. Someone more knowlegable on the tool could prob do much better.

The notcher works great. I think that's the easier task for the project.

I marked the tube I was working on with two center lines down the length of the tube. This made lining up the pipe in the bender much easier.

The size of the die makes it hard to do tight bends. It must be on the bigger side like 7"-8". Pretty sure they make down to
5 1/4" for tighter bends.

Overall not bad I guess. I am still up in the air in turning my truck into a doomsday prepper mobile with all the pipe. Let me know what you guys think...?

First pic is with a connector piece from slider to flare bend. Not sure about this piece what do you guys think. Second pic is without. I was thinking a little more support/body protection wouldn't hurt.

I will be adding one more piece that will connect the end of the ARB bumper wing with the straight section of tube. I am going to try to follow the wheel well with that piece. Try.

Nice work man! Personally I like the little fender piece. Stiffins it up and adds some protection.

Lookin' good Scott. Preppin' her for the trails out back at field and forest eh? Are you going to incorporate some sort of a sleeve/bolt set up so you can still take the front bumper off? Interested to see what ya come up with for the rear 1/4, i can never keep them off the trees :)

Thanks Josh and Josh.

I did not use any bolts. If the bumper has to come off I'll have to cut on the straight section of new tube. Then prob have to sleeve weld it back together. I didn't want to spend the extra time and planning on bolt on unit. I did however plan on it in the beginning but It just intaled to much work. I also believe that welding it all together makes it much stronger.

I am sure my 80 will be out in F&F some day......following your 80:D

Some pics from today. I finished up the front drivers side. Overall I am pleased with how it came out. It is pretty stout. Only piece I didn't do is a tube from the end of the bumper wind to the straight section of new tube. I got tiredof working on that side for now.

Some pics from today:

Thanks Will.

Picked up some more weld wire this morning and finished up the pass side this afternoon. Then painted it up.

Overall the front took me 22 hrs. I'm not a metal worker by trade and have no idea if that a long time or not. I am going to take a little break until I get to the rear. Time to spend some time with my son, lady and family for the holiday.

Here are a couple finish shots from today. Hopefully get an outdoor pic tomorrow for reference. Hope to have some dirt on that new paint soon.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

Well I finished up the driv. rear. I was going to wrap the whole rear quarter but when I got to that part it just looked to overboard. So I came up with an idea of a bolt on hoop the will bolt to the bumper wing. I will put it on when I go wheeling. Haven't made the hoops yet. I am going to finish up with the pass side. Then move onto the hoops. Some pics:
