Anyone heard anything on LX600? (USA)

Man I got to talk to my HS guidance counselor. I could buy a starter home in my area for 130k and make about 1k on rent.
130k? I can’t get a studio or 1BR condo around here for that. Maybe far enough south of west if the city where they throw in the bullet holes for free

Man. Cheapest 3/1 here (non-foreclosure and non-teardown) is $300k. That's a 950 sq ft home on a 3600 sq ft lot. And that's actually cheap... most start over $400k... and double that is common.

Oh yeah and the property tax bill on the above is >$15k/year.

As you can probably guess, housing costs are a huge expense here. If I could move and still keep my job I could afford a new LX600. Possibly two. As it stands now if I really wanted a new LX600 I could probably manage the payments. But with kids starting college in a few years it's not sensible for me to drop $100k on a vehicle... nevermind the fact that I personally don't like to eat the depreciation on new vehicles anyway. In several years when the kids are out of college and I can pick up a 3-4 year old 40-50k LX600 for half the cost of new I might consider one.

I do know what my CIO makes though and if I had his job a new LX might be on the menu.

Well I make decent money as does my wife. We have pensions and 403b n such gaining for retirement. I reckon if said lx was to be our only vehicle maybe. A new 600 would be more than our morgage. Not counting mods to adventure it with. I guess I get the whole expensive toy thing. A lot of those boats are actually making money. I was wondering more what line of work y’all do to afford such luxury. I’m not bashing anyone. Or what kinds of deals ,sponsors, write offs etc to build these out.

What he said although I have no kids for college. Issue I also have is even new cruisers are appreciating in value. And if you buy a new car today it’s going to be above MSRP due to shortages. I have issues with that meaning when things level off your new “collectible” “rare” land cruiser or lx is gonna take a huge hit.

Took her for a spin yesterday and came away impressed. Good power and responsive, steering and trans was very smooth. I did like the seating position compared to my Land cruiser. I was worried the screen would be in my viewing angle but that is not the case. Also the screen is bigger in person compared to seeing photos online. The front seat was very comfortable and the space was plentiful. I will keep my deposit with them and see how long it takes for a vehicle to arrive. I am number 90 on their list and number 7 on the color way fsport specs I requested. If it gets too late into the summer I may go a different direction since we will be heading into 2023 releases and this would be a 2022 MY. I have been eyeing a capstone sequoia as well.

wish it had a pano roof and the back seats seemed a little smaller than my LC200 yet the specs I see online appear to be the same leg room. also wish the fsport steering wheel was thicker.

How was the AHC?

I went to the Lexus Off-Road experience at Road Atlanta today in the pouring rain. They had the GX460 and LX600 available to drive off road through the forest a bit around some muddy/rocky obstacles, nothing to terrible. They were on street tires and came away impressed by both.

The GX460 upgraded technology and leather from my wife's 2018, same capability

The LX600 power, suspension refinement over my 15LX570, lower weight (~400) and technology upgrades were all impressive. Power at altitude would now be unchanged with the twin turbo, another plus for me.

The front center console was large and in the way more than my 15, although with better more user friendly reachable layout. Loved the front camera showing wheels on both trucks, sort an xray view of what's in front of you.

Crawl control on LX on flat and going up was almost without noise, finally usable without the racket. I'll miss the two part rear hatch, but plan to grab one off lease in 3 years for sure.

96K is probably worth it, but I'm a preowned buyer, let the first buyer take the hit, they've got money to spare.

I will probably be a pre-owned buyer myself.

That’s part of my complaint currently. Some newer vehicles are appreciating not coming down with age and mileage. I was considering buying another cruiser But prices are just insane. 30k for a 80 series In good shape And the diesels aren’t much better. For that I can find A 200 but then I’m 20 years new with the same mileage I’ll wait.

I actually think high mileage 200s are the sweet spot for the high value LC purchase. I believe those are at the bottom of the curve, I could be wrong, but that’s my take on it. A beat up 100 can surely be had for less, but a good one is appreciating quickly. 80s are worse, 60s even more so.

Is the camera resolution still abysmal in the new GX? Our 2020 GX is straight up shameful. I’ve seen better resolution on vehicles from the late 2000s.

It’s just another expensive toy. Take a look at all the boats in a marina or private airplanes at an airport or drive through an expensive neighborhood and gawk at all the multi million dollar homes.
Zillions of people make lots of money (and zillions of us don’t too)
Yeah it’s all about perspective, right? I look at $200k G Wagons and think “never” (not just because I’m a Toyota loyalist). Signing up for a $110k LX honestly doesn’t feel like a big difference from the first new car my wife and I bought, a 2011 Honda CRV. It was a little stretch for us at the time, and after a bunch of new cars in between then and now (mostly for the businesses we own), you gain a comfort level with it that wouldn’t be there without a lot of buying experience. Our business owns a few vehicles that weren’t too far off from the cost of a new LX. There are financial/tax reasons it can make sense to buy a vehicle, rather than sit on the money and pay a lot of tax on it.

Who wouldn’t gladly pay $40k for a Supra Turbo in 1993 if you had the money? Or $33k for an 80 series the same year? (Triple locked OF COURSE.) But that seemed like crazy money if you were making minimum wage (like me) back then. If any Toyota (or Lexus) has a shot at being in that kind of rarified air in 30 years, wouldn’t it be the new LX? (Maybe the Supra too, but it’s a bit too *BMW* for my taste.) I guess that’s part of the appeal in buying one now, the possibility that this is THE one to own for the next 30 years.

I may justify the 105k price as the last new vehicle I purchase for my retirement. It would outlast my life and well into my daughters 40s. Now the LC 500 I'll buy used and rail on it!

Obviously the initial buy-in is not cheap, but as all of us know that have owned previous cruisers, the depreciation curve is as flat as the come.

I would never spend 100k on a Land Rover. (Nothing against anyone who has). Even if the rover was more comfortable, more powerful, better looking etc….the depreciation curve on those is ridiculous.

Cruisers are similar to G wagons (depreciation wise). Expensive to purchase, but great resale.

Again, not that this is justification. In all honestly, all I and most of us really “need” is a Geo Metro….but that wouldn’t be any fun.

Hopefully one of these days this thread will start filling with delivery posts…/

Dealer called today, they got their first allocation, however, it was a luxury trim. (I am looking for F-sport but would consider others depending on the build)

I considered it, as I it was the color combo that I wanted and had AHC, however, it didn’t have the appearance package and I really don’t care for the silver grill and wheels.

They said they believe they will get 1 allocation month, hopefully the stars align next month.
