I was until about Peru. Then I found I didn't like their stories anymore. A lack of respect for locals and a fondness of the locals leaves is what turned me off to it.

But hey, that is just me.

Seems like a great adventure. I didn't feel they had a lack of respect for the locals, a few unfortunate bump ins, but they didn't seem to be discourteous to the locals.

Really? Maybe I missed one or more posts. Which site were you reading on? I never felt like that at all.

Read through it awhile back, great story....

Must of missed the lack of respect also?

Rob:)

this has got to be one of the most extraordinary adventures of all! Needs to be made into a movie!.

The one that sticks in my head the most is when they are in Peru and go to some ruins. The girl steps over a child and people get upset and start yelling at them. They laugh at the locals, make fun of them and more, all in their blog.

When I am not in a hurry to get to work, I will see if I can find it. It was when I read that in their blog and stuff shortly after about the locals coca products that I was turned off by the trip and stopped reading their blog.

Cheers

I lost the thread after the 14th page on Pirate. They wanted me to go to facebook to get the "full" story---not!!. facebook will sell your personal info in a heartbeat to anyone for 10 cents--ask me how I know

how do you know?

Are you serious...? They are just doing a standard overlanding trip. There are so many people doing this. For example: Landcruising Adventure. A Dutch couple with a BJ45 that is on the road since 2003. Europe to Vietnam, then the whole of South America. A German couple that is on the road with a HJ60 that is on the road for 26 years or something and has seen so many countries. Chris and Eyleen, an Australian couple that built there own off road buggy from used parts and a welded frame. They already travelled through 105 countries and did more than 150.000 kilometers. Oh, and let's not forget the Dutch girl who drove from the Netherlands to the most southern tip of South Africa with a tractor! And there are so many others.
So of course this is a great trip, but in overlander terms nothing out of the ordinary. :)

Septu—thanks for that link. I've seen a couple of pretty cool trips, but nothing on that level of awesome.
