Anyone fitted w/ refrigerator, 33" spare tire, storage drawers and sleeping platform inside cabin?

I'm trying to build my rig as light as possible this time w/ new to me 14 LX.
So, naturally I'm trying to avoid the metal bumpers, skid (maybe sliders), roof rack or rooftop tent during my build.
Already ordered 17" rims w/ 285/70/17 K02 and about to remove 3rd row seats as well.

Does anyone successfully mounted inside cabin spare tire, refrigerator, storage drawers and also a foldable sleeping platform all together in their rig and some space to organize other stuffs?
Unfortunately, the spare tire takes a lot of rear cargo space but I don't want the rear bumper w/ swing out either.
Perhaps, I might go with a hitch swingout tire carrier, but I'm also worried that it might further reduce my already not so great OEM bumper depurate angle.

This rig will be for our overlanding purpose w/ mild to moderate off-road usage (no rock crawling).
P.S. Any other solution for carrying a 33" spare (probably will go with 35" tire setup down the road)?

That size tire will fit in the stock location under the vehicle.

Lots of people run a fridge and drawers.

The fridge takes up a lot of real estate, but you can still have room for one person to sleep in the cargo area with a fridge installed.

Maybe read up a bit on 35" tires - totally doable, but pretty invasive, and well regarded members like @Markuson have gone there and come back to smaller sizes.

yup, 33" tire will fit where the stock spare goes. You can even get a 35" tire under there with some work. Fridge and drawers are very common. I saw a super cool drawer setup with a low-profile drawer style fridge that sits below the platform level on the "what did you do with your 200 today?" thread a few pages back.

:edit: here, shortcut for you

As others said, a 33 fits fine in the current spare location. A 34 will fit as well, though you might need to remove the little stubby bracket that helps hold/align the spare in place (it's just 2 bolts). A 35 seems like it'd be too tight to me but others might have managed to do them.

If you want the space under the vehicle for an aux fuel tank, then there are a couple options:

1. Get the 12 gallon tank and you can still fit the spare, or
2. Get a 24-40 gallon tank, and put your spare on your roof.

Assuming you want the spare inside for an LRA tank. If it is to be a dedicated rig, are you parting with the 2nd row seats too? If so you have a host of options available. The spare can go on a partial slide under your platform accessible from the rear and you can access the balance of under platform storage from rear doors. The main issue you may face is if you are wanting to sleep two inside then you will have to compromise on the fridge capacity to keep from being too wedged in. Depending on your fridge requirements, there are drawer type fridges that could fit under the platform, but they are not space efficient (small capacity versus overall footprint). You could also consider a fridge that battens down for travel, but then you can remove and place on the ground or a pedestal when at camp freeing up sleeping space. (I've gone through this planning exercise already and determined a trailer was right for me - there is only so much space inside).

Congrats on your new rig. Sounds like you're going a direction I've been working towards with my build (link in sig).

I have 35x12.5s and a mild 1" sensor lift on the LX and things like approach and departure angles, even armor, become much less of a concern with 3" lift and almost 6" total lift on demand. Using an similarly tall but narrow 275/65R20LT spare in the stock location, under a 12.5 Gallon LRA subtank. Not saying you have go anywhere near these size tires, but it's totally workable without a swingout or tire in the interior. Personally, 35s work incredibly well on this platform if paying attention to details. Others that may have tried and were disappointed did not do it holistically to re-gear, BBK, and dial in geometries. To be fair, it's somewhat easier to do bigger tires on the LX than LC.

Gas mileage on my rig is still respectable as I'm close to stock weights and aero. Just the AT tire impacts which has been worth the trade at 11MPG/16MPG.

I'll add a photo, I have Air Down Gear Up drawer and sleeper with a dometic drawer fridge. You'd be surprised how much you can get in that fridge.

Thank you guys for the wonderful ideas and sharing your experience!

1. Now, I'm seriously considering undermount tire carry option... just not sure it might potentially damage my spare tire during off-road or hurt my departure angle.

2. Definitely considering LRA tank but not ready for that route yet.

3. This will be our part-time off-road rig, and therefore, we have to have the 2nd row seat intact.

4. For refrigerator requirement, I need at least 50-Quart w/ sliding down mount and also able to fit 2 adult sleeping platform.

5. My ultimate goal is to fit w/ 35x12.5 tires as well. I will be following your build thread.

6. Please post some pic if you can! thanks

1. I don't have a rear bumper so my spare sits underneath the truck. I actually prefer it with the plastic tupperware. Because the spare sits low, it protects the trailer wiring plug and helps prevent the plastic bumper from getting snagged and ripped off. I dragged my butt in a few spots in Moab and the spare took the brunt of the rock hits. So long as the spare is properly inflated it almost acts like a skid plate

2. It's possible to fit the 12 gallon LRA tank above the spare, so you can still keep it underneath the truck. You can't do that if you go with the 24 or 40 gallon. Just keep that in mind.

...

5. I think you'll need a rear carrier or else you'll want to put your spare on your roof if you go to 35x12.5. I don't think it'll fit under the rig, but I could be wrong. My 34 is pushed up against the rear frame member and it's very close to the panhard rod along the diff. @TeCKis300 would know better though as he has 35s on his LX now.

Thanks for your advice...
I think I will have to mount the new 33" wheel/tire underneath the truck.
Didn't think about the tupperware idea!
Do you have some pictures or link to the product that you could share?

Anything up to a 34” will fit and don’t worry about limiting your departure angle. Something else will be the limit (driver skill, traction, etc) before your spare becomes an issue.

Thanks, I need to hit the trails more often.
Went to Moab last year and loved it.

What kind of photos are you looking for?

My backside is stock. The tire hangs down slightly, so if you go down a steep drop (like Fins N Things in Moab) it'll make contact on the rocks. But doing so can help save the resonator as well as the trailer wiring plug (which is nestled between the spare and the tie down point). It also keeps you from catching the bottom lip of the factory rear bumper, which could otherwise get caught on a rock and yanked off.

Awesome pic!
Thanks I got the idea... love the rig and your simplicity approach!

To be fair I actually want a (less simple) Dissent (or similar) rear bumper. Not having a rear swingout is one reason I stuck with 34s instead of moving to 35s. Ladder, vertical fuel carriers, etc would all be great as well. The simplicity of my rear setup has been largely driven by a combination of $ and the hassle of the swingouts. But the plus side is that I can definitively say the tire underneath is actually better for damage control :-)

Well said... I hated the swing on my previous rig but the departure angle and able to carry accessories are obvious plus!
Thanks for sharing!
