Thought about buying this as a replacement key for my 2004 LC. I need to replace the worn key blade and this looks like a cool option. Says it works for a 1998-2011 LC.

Anyone ever try it? Will it pick up the transponder?
Anyone with experience would be appreciated.

My son had to try one of these "flip keys" when he broke the shell on his OEM key. If I remember correctly there were some people that had issues with the key that you posted being read by the immobilizer because of the distance of the "chip" from the keyhole due to the fob orientation.

We went with a similar but slightly different key:

1) It is a bit of a pain in the ass to find someone that will cut one of these keys.
2) The key is big, blocky, and feels weird when turning the ignition.

I hated the key from day one, my 18yo son loved it for about 6 months, then went back to an OEM key.

I had one of the styles where the chip was too far to read in the ignition and it wouldn't start. There are a few new manufactures of the OEM style key where the don't break at the screw, seem to be reinforced.

Tried one a few years ago ... and it lasted about 2-days before it broke. I just use a super durable programmed Camry key with the OEM fob only (cut the metal key off) for push-button lock/unlock. Been using it for years and years without issue; fully solved the problem with the weak OEM shell.

On our 99 LC we use a cheap standard key to start the vehicle and keep the key fob next to it. Not sure if it works on yours but turning a metal key feels better than than a weak plastic key fob.
