Yeah, like everything else of mine, they've been around a while. Just moved them back from the FJ60 to the FJ45. They were originally on the 40.

Just went to Tire Rack to find out about spares [these are 12 years old, but only have about 8k on them] They didn't have ANY listings for tires that size.

ECHO of silence.

I can answer a hundred tech questions for all y'all. But when I ask one.............

I read your question the first time around, but...

In my 18 or so years of being a tire dork and all around car/truck geek, I've never seen or heard of a set of tires that size.

Sorry. That's all I got.

I'm guessing most others are in the same boat.

What brand & model?

Roughly 34.4x10.8

Just switch the 8 and 7 around and you'll get something a lot more common! :D

Sorry, thanks for all the tech help, but, I never have heard of that size.

I am having the same problem with finding older 7.50 x 16 Michelins for my Land Rover. Finally went to Michelin USA direct and was told they stopped making them 2 years ago. I've seen several folks in the Rover community with tires in the size range you're seeking (most Series Rovers ran 16" rims) so I'll ask around and see if I can find anything out.

Gist of it is - seems like the old industry standard of using skinny 16" rims and off road tires has gone by the wayside due to the jump to larger rim sizes.

Agree that there's plenty of 275 options out there.

Mark,

For what it's worth:
I am no tire expert. I use 255/85 R16 BFG Mud tires, about equivalent to 33-34 inchers on 6-1/2 wide Aussie Toyota wheels.
I remain very pleased with them.

I have searched for the Michelin XZL tires in a 34 incher, I have seen them, but apparently the military in several countries gobble them up. There are used ones available overseas, and new ones in the UK, but the shipping costs are really steep.

You might try some of the military tire outlets here in the States for an odd size. I gave up on the Michelins, as I figured when I later needed to replace a bad one, none would be around and I'd have to ditch the others and make happy with our domestic tire offerings.

By the way, I only opened my mouth here, as I agree you do offer a lot of help to others, and in fairness you assuredly deserve a response when you ask a question.

Thank you. I too have a set of 255 BFGs,albeit waiting in the wings. I don't like to wait until I need something to get it, so when I had the chance a few months ago to snag a used set cheap, I did. I just didn't realize HOW WEIRD of a size my old tires were.

I have seen ONE set of the Michelins.... locally [Burbank] MAN ARE THEY TALL!

One shot in poor light today. Same tires as in the link, just with lift added. I think they look more proportionate NOW than they did 4 years ago.

Yep, the Michelin's are tall--AND truly perfect for the tall skinny look on a 40 or 45 Land Cruiser. I found and passed on a new set of four last year with military run flat inserts--literally bombproof--probably why the Brits and some of our Ranger-types use 'em in the "disturbances" over in the Middle East.

But availability, more so replaceability, does kick in. I have lusted and even owned a few exotic Italian cars--and worried all the time: what if a rock busts the irreplaceable windshield, one of the four magnesium wheels gets cracked, or the GT-40 ZF transaxle needs a major out-of-production casting. Then I'm screwed, can't run the vehicle that cost an arm and a leg, trying to communicate what I need with someone overseas who goes on a siesta three times a day when it's not some national holiday honoring some obscure antique war hero from three-thousand years ago !

So I sell out, and join the masses. No, I won't drive a Pinto, but a Land Cruiser, a pick-up from the last century, maybe a color not seen on every minivan in town, that's fun. Just have to steer clear of hard to fabricate stuff, develop a circle of friends and connections, educate myself on how to fix stuff, and avoid military tires that would make my ride fabulously outstanding. Such is life.......

LOL!!!!!!!!!IF that wasn't so long, I'd put it in my sig line. THAT is the story of MY LIFE!

BTW, I've been known to impersonate that overseas guy occasionally.;)
