Warranty on my '05 Land Cruiser runs out next month so I went by Toyota of Easley this week. While my car was in the service department, my salesman decided to pitch the 'new & improved' cruisers to me since I've bought three from him in the past 15 years.....1993 (Marshall owns it now), 1999 (traded), and 2005 (current ride).

Hang on, boys, the 5.7L engine will literally cause the vehicle to jump out of it's paint job. WAY more power than I need/want but with the 6-speed automatic transmission they still swear you can get 13-18mph. (I get 16-17mph consistently with my 4.7L, 4-speed automatic).

Anyway, my two cents worth as follows........
the new body style is not to my liking with continuous molded plastic fenders and bumpers. There is no rub rail which adds to the 'boringness' of the overall sex appeal (or lack thereof). If you want features, features, features, well, maybe this vehicle will suit you, however, I really don't care about automatic retracting mirrors or quad controlled A/C & heater seats. The feature list goes on and on with items like a plastic cover over the Reese hitch, keyless entry magic, and three driver memory positions. The third row seats are not removable and for this reason alone I'll stick with my 2005. Our third row seats generally stay on a hook in the garage. Reflecting the current economic lethargy, this vehicle has a sticker price of 68K (fully loaded).

Back to the warranty inspection........nothing, absolutely nothing, wrong with my 2005 LC. True, it only has 28K miles but there has not been ONE, SINGLE thing needing repair/replacement under warranty. Totally unbelievable if you've ever owned a F***. :princess:

28K miles!!!
had 200+ on 86 when sold
had 175 on 95
have 175 on 97
have 89 on 98

Dibbs CC . . . I will buy your 2005 when it hits 90K, sight unseen. Don't sell to Marshall again, that will only lead to heartache. Kind of like letting the owners of a Chinese Buffet adopt your cat.

c'mon now Turkeypen, let some of us single truck owners get in on the hoarding! :D

My take on the new 08 is similar to CC's. I don't like the styling at all. It doesn't reek of coolness and has no "land cruising" emotion. It looks like an overgrown Highlander.

Rick, your assessment is hilarious because I told the salesman the new Cruiser looked like a Sequoyah on steroids!!!! Actually, it doesn't even look as good as that.........well, we will probably get used to it, just like the restyled 4-Runners.

It sure does seem that almost all new cars have lost that wow factor- I like to look at a vehicle lines and see what the designer was thinking and how they incorporate previous models designs. It seems toyota designed the camry and higlander and is now just slightly changing the basic design and calling it a new model. I think the 3rd gen 4runner, the 2nd gen tacoma, the 100 series LC are the last of the good looking trucks. I just cant get my arms around the new design and quality. But maybe I am biased?:meh::cheers:

Hey wait a minute...I need to get in line for CC's 100 also. Then I will have a black and white...wiat a minute, if I park them close maybe they will mate and have a little zebra striped Highlander.

which is the LC?

Can you guess which is the LC and which is the Highlander?

Looking at the bumpers, I don't know how you would put a steel bumper on either end without mucking up the corners.

I think I may have seen one in Lawrenceville.....I thought it was a new Sequoia

They were in a line at the dealer and the only way I could tell it from the Sequoia was that the LC was considerably smaller.

I was at dealer this morning to get my trailer hitch replaced....from Reese to Toyota. Figured I would go look at the LandCruiser 2008. The vehicle I thought was a LC was really a Highlander and the LC was not anything what I expected for the new model year. Uninspiring and same as the others. I cant tell a huge difference between why someone would choose between 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and LandCruiser as they are all very similar from first appearances without looking at actual sizes, engines, drivetrains, etc.

I was underwhelmed...and decided a LC would not be the replacement vehicle for wifes current vehicle. :(
