Got the itch for a trailer and it is gonna have to be scratched sooner or later. Anyone gone the government liquidation route? If so how painful was it? I have one or two local sources as well but they can be hit or miss.

Not done it myself, but have read lots of posts from those who have. Buying is relatively straightforward. Once purchased, you have to wait for the end user certification, which can take some time (a month is not unusual.)
Once you get your paperwork together, then you can contact the pickup point to confirm hours, getting on post, etc. Usually, it's up to you to get it in roadable condition and the listing may give some guidance. Be prepared for just about anything.
I'm pretty sure you need proof of insurance and some sort of registration to get it out the front gate. Also, you need to remember that you must have insurance and suitable ID to get onbase.

It's one of those things where you can save a ton of $$ or get in trouble. From what I read, you have to get your purchase off the lot within a short period of time, whether it's roadworthy or not. So sight unseen may not be the safest way to go.

I've bought five different trailers from GL. $160 to $350 each, but I had to travel to get them. Getting titles can be a pain and adds expense. They work with you fairly well, if you have a problem getting your purchase off the lot, in time. I try to buy two at a time, so it cuts down the travel expenses.

I bought an f350 7.3l crew cab and ended up selling it after driving it for about two years. I've also bought three trailers. It is really easy. Don't forget to add the 10 % premium. Plan to spend an hour or two on the base. Make sure you bring all your paperwork with you including your drivers license and your insurance.

Buying a vehicle is a bigger crap shoot, but now you buy them from GovPlanet and they check them over better before selling. Not fixing, just reporting the big and obvious things. I bought a deuce from MI. and drove it back to MO. With vehicles you really should plan on having it trailered back home.
