Hello,

I just purchased a BJ-74 and to my suprise their is no seatbelts in the rear. I guess they never came in this model for some reason?? I guess the Japanese don't care about their passengers safety :-) .

I am looking for recommendations/idea's as to hbest locations to add seatbelts so they are safe. I will have my kids in the rear seats and want it to be safe in case something were to happen. Also I would like for it to appear stock and not look like something a hack has done, but again, teh seatbelts need to be functional.

Thanks,
Todd

I would be surprised if they did not come with belts-the 70 has them.
sorry, no further help...

Hi Todd,

My 74 did not hve them either. I had Rob Millson in Richmond, BC to add 3 lap belts. He used reinforcing steel plates.

Sincerely,

Bruce

Do you have pictures of what he did? Did he attach to the frame?

Thanks,
Todd

If you ever hear of somebody scrapping a Candian spec BJ70, make sure to get the rear, seat, shoulder belts and seat mounting points out of the rig.

The JDM setup sucks if you want belted adults back there. No legroom at all and no provisions in the seat for belts. If they at least would have used the same mounting design ( twp latches) as the Canadian spec 70 you could swap the seat.

For you JDM owners who have never owned a Canadain spec rig. the rear seat is actually quite comfortable in a cdn BJ70. More legroom than a 60 series.

just to add to the discusion, the LJ71 is simular to the CDM 70 series with more leg room but the split rear also reclines and comes with seat belts already installed from Japan and folding arm rests..
cool
cheers
