On the recommendation of a few people here on the forums, I recently had my gauge cluster repaired by Tanin Auto Electronix. When I received it back, it looked like everything worked but then I turned my truck on and noticed a few funny things. I own a 1996 LX450 and I think what is going on here is that they replaced the guts with instruments from a Toyota or a different model year and the wiring is slightly different. Here's a quick video I took to show the problem. This is a triple-locked truck. I sent a support request to Tanin and they haven't responded. I was happy with their service until I saw this and they failed to respond to my repeated requests for help. $750 later, they failed to fix my instrument cluster and I can't say I can recommend them. :mad:

What was the issue when you sent it in ?
What were they supposed to fix for $750 ?

I mean, take it back? Clearly not working as intended.

@vegas :

Dispute the charge immediately with your credit card company, they obviously fawked up the repair.

Agree, $750 is crazy money, just buy a used unit from someone here in the Classifieds while you wait to get your money back.

I hang around on clublexus and some other lexus sc facebook groups. Don't think tanin's reputation has been great recently.
Recent post on clublexus, you can probably get their attention here: Anyone have issues with Tanin lately - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-1st-gen-1992-2000/1028323-anyone-have-issues-with-tanin-lately.html
For $750 I would've bought a used cluster and figured out how to set the mileage back.
agree, the speedo head unit is easily removed so the original retaining mileage can be inserted
My speedo played up at 192000k and i was able to purchase a new one from Toyota and swapped it out within the cluster.

mind you it was a bit of a hassle purchasing it cause they thought i was going to try and sell it with zero kms on the clock ! almost 30years later i still own it :)
