My nephew flew in for Christmas, and somehow we ended up talking about Moab and Easter Jeep Safari. I told him that I would love to go but it hasn't worked out yet. Now I have pre-registered and am supposed to hear back on my camp site today. Wondering if anyone else is thinking about it or planning on going yet?

The Safari is April 12-20 this year and you sign up with Red Rock 4 Wheelers rr4w.com. Registration starts Jan 21 at 10am Mountain.

I have an LX470 and a YJ Wrangler, my plan is to flat tow the YJ with the Hundy. Hit a hotel on the way out and back from Ohio, and camp while I'm there.

Anyways I've started talking to some other buddies and relatives but wanted to ping the Mud folks. Thanks!

I'm planning to be there again this year...hit it in 2013 for the first time and enjoyed it :)

I'm going to try to make it down to EJS this spring. It's fully worth the time and expense to attend. The event is pretty welcoming to other makes and is (to say the least) an eclectic mix of people.

Of course, every Toyota 4x4 owner should endeavor to go to Moab's Toyota event at least once. http://www.cruisemoab.com/

I went in 2005 - really my first Moab ever, in the 40, and in snow no less  - (I wheeled with some Blazers, though, totally unofficially, not with the EJS-guided runs)

the parade is impressive/memorable - as are quite a few of the rigs displayed

but I definitely like Cruise Moab better :D

first pic is of Poison Spider as it was starting to sleet and then snow

second pic is the next day on the county road Behind the Rocks

Cool! What did you wheel, the 40?

The Raisin was retired a couple years back...one of these days I'll make time to build another trail-only rig. I wheeled my FZJ80 for the couple of days I was there.

My 2013 EJS trip was last minute...I had driven the 80 to TX for the RoundUp, then driven it to Vegas for the Mint 400 race and then realized that EJS was going on and Moab was "on the way home"...what was supposed to be a day-stop ended up being 4 days :)

Thanks for the info and encouragement folks! I have registered now and am camping at Pack Creek. Look forward to seeing everyone there! Looks like my nephew is riding along, and his buddy from Vernal UT is bringing his Jeep.

I am registered for Porcupine Rim Monday, Elephant Hill Tues, Hell's Revenge Tiptoe Wed, and Top of the World Thurs.

I would love to ride a trail in the LX, but it isn't ready yet. I will put Cruise Moab on the list! I don't hit trails without a winch installed anymore.

The LX is running new 32" IROKs now, and I just rebuilt the fuel system on the Jeep. I have a sport cage kit ready to go on the Jeep. I saw a couple roll on the trail at a Jamboree last year, and worked the recovery. They were fine and the windshield frame and roll bar did their job, but it was scary. I like to ride with the windshield down but I want A pillars.

I'm definitely geeked about experiencing Moab for the first time :)

Thanks for the pics and info! Looks like I really do need to be prepared for anything! I've only been on a couple of trails in TN where I experienced mud and rocks. Definitely makes things interesting!

Sounds like an epic trip man :) Way to seize the day, see the possibilities and go for it. That's what it's all about.

That's cool that you have the 80 set up well for on and off road. It's hard with the wooded trails here, they are tight. Vehicles with more than 95" wheelbase tend to get a lot of panel damage here. The Jeep works great on the trail, but my wife and dog like the Hundy better haha. I would love try some trails and mountain passes out west with the Hundy.

I am planning on running Thursday -Sunday for EJS with some friends. Not sure if I will be in my 80 or my XJ though.

Hopefully will be able to make it for the Cruise Moab. Probably have to fly solo since I am the only one in my usual group who drives a Cruiser.... Or Toyota at all now that I think about it...

Went on an Easter run last year at Moab (I just moved to Utah and didn't even know there was an event going on) and was pretty awesome.

If anyone is in the Salt Lake area or down there around then and want to link up shoot me a PM!

Cool man, I am running Top of the World on Thursday so maybe I'll see you there!

I am heading back on Friday, so I will miss the parade. Hope to see some of the vendor show on Thursday. Unfortunately I just don't have enough time to do it all, I wish I had a non-trail day to hang out. But the trails are so epic - I don't think I could live with "wasting" a trail day :)

The front end of the Jeep is torn apart, I just put a Lock Right in the carrier. I already rebuilt the rear suspension and fuel system. I had to drop another $350 on a new computer for the Jeep, the PMU or ECU or whatever. I have a front bumper and roll cage kit ready to bolt up. I installed a heavy duty tire carrier on the rear too. I think she will be pretty sorted when I get to Utah.

Never ran top of the world so I may have to add that one to the list! Was down in Moab this weekend running part of Dome Plateau, Fins, Kane Creek (one of my favorite trails) and a bombing run through YellowCat Flats. There is never enough time to be down there!

Yeah I totally know how you feel about the wasting a trail day thing. As cool as vendor shows and such are at the end of the day I can do my shopping online from home or pick up a magazine.

Actually that is funny because I just got done tearing down my XJs front carrier to put a lock right in it. Totally worth the time it took.

Mine was really smooth except I destroyed the roll pin in the carrier, but it's in now. Can't wait to try riding the trails locked front and rear! The cage is installed, I will put up pics.

Top of the World has fantastic views - good choice

So my plan is still a go! Will be heading down early Thursday or later Wednesday. Anyone want to meet up and go hit some trails between then and Sunday?!
