Just wondering. My roommate's got a custom clod that I've been tinkering with for a few months now(play with it more than he does, lol) and I had a Team Losi XXT Stadium truck a few years back. Thinking about getting back into the game with my own. Can't decide on a clod or a shafty. Clods flat out work, but shafty's are cool cause they're more realistic.

Anyone else into these things? I know there are quite a few crossovers from the Pirate board.

i got a HPI RS4 truck that i used to run the crap out of. i havent touched it in quit a while cause it needs a new motor. those things are a blast. used to take it to the local BMX track and sky it of those big jumps and triples. I ended up sinking alot of money on it and decided to take a brake from it.

i have'nt kept up with the newer trucks. but since you reminded me of it i may go drag it of the shelf and get it running and have some fun.

I have a first gen HPI RS4 car. It doesn't do dirt, but man is it fast. Too bad there is snow out, or I'd go drive it.

Clods are nice. What is a "shafty"? Is that the Tamiya Mountaneer? Those things are freakin' expensive.

Try out the Traxxas Revo:

Oh, and be carefull. I have a little over a grand in my little car. Things I "had to have" added up quick!!!

Shafty is a general reference to rigs with driveshafts, i.e. motor/transmission/transfer-case then driveshafts to the axles. Whereas clods have the motors/gear reduction built into each axle.

I got a wild hair and went and picked up some steel rod, gonna start building a custom chassis today. :D

I got 2 of the Traxxas T-Max myself. Put 40 bodies on them even. And boy will they fly.

I used to Race Losi Cars, ive had almost all the offroad dirt cars you can imagine, Currently still have my XX4.. Id like to build a crawler from scratch, i guess use Clod Axles.. build the cage out of brake line ect.. www.rccrawler.com pretty cool..

i still like the fast ones though!

I got a Traxxas nitro sport, that thing flys!! the top speed is like 50mph, no joke!! But these things are expensive to maintain. i have to buy a new block for mine. but theyre a ton of fun!!

Rc was my addiction before cruisers! I've got a t-maxx, nitro tc3, brushless xxt, and brushless foamie plane. Those tamiya bruisers are sweet though, they have leaf springs and the frame is very similar to my fj62's frames. Old and expensive though. Too bad none of my crap is running now, can't afford all of these hobbies. In my experience the electrics are faster than nitro, with brushless motors and extra cells.

Go with a T-maxx, you wont be sorry. Only mod's to mine are aluminum lower frame and custom treadplate skid bars. WICKED. It takes a bit of practice to get the clutch set just right to crawl, but I can go up stairs, curbs, rocks, anything.

-Nothing beats the smell of Nitro in the morning....

Dude, get back to work on your REAL truck. :)

Geez, how much does that thing weigh now! You'd better put a few extra cells in that battery pack!!

You gonna drive it with twin motors? Like 9turn Quads!

I'm partial to TXT-1s..the only "Crawler" I've ever owned. I currently own an E-Maxx (made to crawl, spools front and rear, geared LOW, twin 8-cell batts), T-maxx (made for play, new pipe, replaced EZ-start w/ recoil), Team Associated RC10T3 (made to race, 10x1 motor, Novak Super Rooster, FM radio, more tires to use than I know what to do with, tweaked).
