Well I have everything comming in this week. I was woundering if anyone knows the part number for the gear side shims ( they are mentioned in the tech section and woody says you should replace them). I looked at the exploded view and and can't find a part number. I called toyota and they couldn't find it either. I don't know if I really need them, but just in case.

Thanks

Well it has become obvious to me that installing an Aussie in a semi-floater is more involved than in a full-floater. See if you can get some advice on the 60 series forum about the install procedure. That would be helpful for sure.

My $.02 tips;

Get a can of foamy engine cleaner, remove the spare tire, spray the rear axle, cruise the local coin op car wash and hose everything under the rear of the truck. A few bucks spent will make the wrenching experience better than dealing with dirt falling in your face and on your new parts!

You probably can pull the axles out enough to get the side gears out. But I would take the extra time to pull the axles, inspect the wheel bearings and replace the axle seals. The seals are only $4.50 ea. from Kurt @ http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/seals.html It would suck to put it together and have one of those 20 year old seals leak and have to do it all over again.

Well i started this morning and everything was going perfectly.. Until I went to put in the left and right can gearss in they don't seem to fit. I have the left and right axle gears in with the shims and the C clip in the drivers side. I just cant seem to get the rest in the angle seems tough and I'm afraid I may nick up the gear. I'm using the second narrowest shims from toyota. I don't know what else to do I'm at a loss.

Thanks

Thanks for the help. I just can't read directions. I was trying to put both sides in at the same time like a Jacka**. But it gets better: after getting everything together and the right side C clip in I went to put the pin shaft in and relized (wrongly I can say now) that the spacer in cam was to far over. So instead of just pushing it over with my fingure, I had a buddy read the direction and tell me the right C clip had to go in after the pin (wrong answer). So I took it a part (what a blast) and pulled the right side out and removed the C clip. Put it back together to find out I had it in right the first time and then I dropped the C clip into the locker YEE HAA. I was able to get it out with some bailing wire and fancey fishing moves. It is now in and needless to say I'm very happy. It banged once as I pulled out and after that very little noise. I feel it working and I went out and played around felt very nice. Thanks again for the help

Glad you got it together.
I spent all day yesterday in and under my rig. Then this morning before I even got out of bed, my daughter and I were messing around and she got me in the eye with her finger nail pretty good. I've been nursing a red, tearing, burning eye all day.:crybaby: We're a good pair right now. She got whacked in the eye at daycare last week so she has a shiner and I have a piece of my retina gouged out.
