any tips on removing leaf spring u bolts?

I have never worked on anything with leaf springs before. I am going to replace the u bolts or leaf spring bolts on my brothers 1993 2wd pick up. The PO has something goofy there with blocks to lower it. Any tips or advice about how to do this?

And just to check. From the factory should there be any type of spacer or block between the leaf spring and axle?

If you are replacing them just cut them off, torch, grinder, sawzall, however you can.

If you are removing the pin that holds the leaf springs together make sure you clamp them together first.

cutting torch is best.

always best to just replace them. Most spring places will just make you new ones.

No spacer block. Pins set in the perches and the u-bolt plates.
