Lead time on Tacoma replacement frames is ~8 weeks.

Point is, hard to walk into parts counter and order a us truck frame let alone non import frame.

I don't doubt that. I guess Toyota would want to know what you plan to do with that frame if the order is not warranty replacement.

Parts Guy: "Huh?"
Customer: ""Hi, I would like to buy a Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ 79 frame, part number 51003-6A620."
Parts Guy: "Oh, that's different, lemme check........"
Customer: [hold music in customer brain]
Parts Guy: "OK, good news - that is available in a few months at $3,635 plus shipping from LA based upon 473 pounds."
Customer: "Great - do I pay when it gets here?"
Parts Guy: "Prepaid, please." (runs card)

Parts Guy: "Hey, yeah, well we need to refund your payment."
Customer: "WTF?"

That looks like one of our service customers.

Easy, guys. Just chat-like humor. OK, sorry. I know this is not technically correct, maybe (since I don't necessarily know what I'm talking about), but if a windshield, 1HZ, seatbelt or other part cannot be brought in, well maybe not a frame either. If the Customs guy/gal asks the right questions (as with a 1HZ) he/she will likely conclude the part FITS A VEHICLE MADE AFTER THE 25 YEAR WINDOW CLOSED.

Every time I drive South across the border with a part in back, I get sweaty palms - will they ask for documentation about date of manufacture?

Dirty old diesel engine, wheels, tires, frames, seats, etc.? Probably no problem!

Shiny, new, rebuilt 1HD-FT? Only 20 years old? Maybe not so much.....same thing for frames, maybe.

Weighed options of organizing a grass roots, anti-Isis, commando-like campaign with the intention of reaping reward in the spoils of war and smuggling said frames in, after dismantling the antiaircraft batteries (Yes, you were on the short list to lead the commando squad......no, you may not look up the hijabs) or pissing in the wind......with the full knowledge my shoes are gonna get wet.....wimped out, held my chin up and turned into the 45mph south wind.

Too many missed opportunities in life, because it seemed illogical, irrational, or irresponsible, at the time. Too many 'damn, why didn't I, when the chance presented itself'....

Why NOT grab this big, one point buck, pink unicorn by the horn,
ill prepared for the another ride, just to see what happens?
The bromance continues...... :)

Delancy's Greatest Hits..............:)

The 70 series forum is starting to look like the 80 series forum.... I thought I was free when I sold my 81. Dame 25 year rule!

Unfortunately yes. I try my hardest to interject tech but get overruled because I use big words and part numbers. :meh:

And one of the biggest reasons why the folks who used to post real tech in the 70 section don't post here any more and have gone elsewhere.

And because I'm an a******. :meh:

Huh?

Damn.

Beam them to me directly then. I can use it. 37 years of "tech" in the car business requires dilution.
