GOT UTE?

As a 75 Series Ute owner, I hear from other members about their options to find their own unicorn.

I have several sources for new, take-off bodies in white and/or tan. These are LHD with most/all body parts and trim. Interiors are NOT included.

Asking as an individual, not on behalf of our business. Supply of good kits not infinite, but there are some out there. Great candidate for swap onto a lengthened 80 Series frame/drivetrain.

Please respond to the Survey and if it makes sense, happy to talk.

Thanks.

Like this, but without frame, drivetrain, wheels, tires or title :)

Replacement frames have no VIN assigned. They are just a big old part.

I know - that's why my comment was market as "humor" with a smiley face...

Sorry, someone has to defend the old "boxy" 75 Series. Aerodynamics be damned.

So for purposes of the survey, Sir, we can take that as a "NO?" :)

Yes ...... It's No. :)
Not to mention the fact that I'm trying to get rid of a Ute not get another.

"Get rid" :hmm: That implies low pricing..

As opposed to "Offered for your consideration...".......:rimshot:

I stand corrected.
How about "Offered for your consideration" ..... A Ute that is already assembled. : )

To get this back on tech, here are some of the things that come to my mind when considering a 79 / 80 Frankencruiser vs. a 75:

1 - More room in the cabin (plus)
2 - Corner vents for better ventilation (plus)
3 - More modern dash/controls (plus)
4 - Coil springs (plus)
5 - Rear axle - disk service and parking brakes, full floater, wider track, etc. (plus)
6 - Plug 'n Play swap if UZ/auto/full time 4WD retained....well, not exactly, but better than other electronic motor swaps (plus)
7 - Economical swap if drivetrain retained (plus)
8 - Better visibility (plus)
9 - Better parts availability (plus)
10 - Left hand drive (plus)
11 - Ability to avoid potential for rust and poorly done repairs on older rigs (plus)
12 - Styling - agree the old bodies are cuter (minus)

11 pluses / 1 minus ..... Perhaps I should rethink my vote. :)

As someone with no serious interest, but who likes to think about what could be done with a rusted out FJ62..... what's the wheelbase of such a 79.

Would there be any DOT issues with the "glazings" (I think that's how they define them) i.e. lights, windows or bumpers? I thought they were pretty adamant about not allowing these pieces onto U.S. Roads unless they met the dreaded 25 year rule?

Really neat proposal though.

News to me...

I know lots of you don't care much for the new front clip but I like em. Modern but still have 70 written all over them.
Though I think the best looking Cruisers had round lights.

As for interest in a cab I would love to build one but there is no real way I could take on a project like that or afford one to be built right now.

Put me in line in maybe 10 or so years if I am totally honest. A "new" 79 is in total dream category.
